Handful Bra Review & Giveaway!

Now let me just start this post off by saying I know there has been countless reviews of this product floating around the running blog-o-sphere but nevertheless I wanted to review this more than anything else.

because I have small breasts.

I never had an issue with them PRIOR to Logan. I was quite comfortable with my less than average chest and even in a normal sports bra I didn’t mind that I looked kinda like a 11 year old. As I have always been a small breast advocator 😉

However, now my breasts aren’t nearly as perky, nor do I feel comfortable in a sports bra that flattens them – I want to look like I have boobs. It makes me feel confident and better about myself. If I had the money, I’d get implants, but I don’t so I wear padded bras, padded bikinis you name it – let the false advertising commence! I have even gone as far as to put padding in my normal sports bra so I didn’t look so flat.

…..Then along came Handful; designed to flatter, not flatten.

I fell in love.

When Jody from Handful offered to give me a bra to review I was so excited. I decided to get an XS bra based on the reviews from fellow bloggers. I chose the nude colour because it can be worn with anything and I haven’t seen anyone else wear it.

Initial observations about the bra were – YAY I have breasts! and man, these straps are kind of tight.

I asked Jody if she could let me exchange mine for a small and she said she could send me one so I could compare and then decide! – great customer service!

So I also have a small black Handful.

Verdict – their sizing chart is accurate and if you are like me (an inbtwn size) go up a size. If for no other reason for the straps alone. They are just too tight in the smaller size. I like my sports bras a bit tighter for support, but I couldn’t believe how comfortable this bra was, once I was in the RIGHT size :)

Look! I have breasts! Thanks Handful :)

There is definitely a significant difference between both sizes:

Small Black and Extra Small Nude – 2 inches difference as site specifies but strap length is significantly different as well!

I decided to go with the small instead of the xsmall. It just feels better and gives me more coverage.

The bra comes in a mesh bag for laundry, has removable pads,  washes and wears really well. I wore my Handful on runs, spinning, during yoga, even ‘out and about’ in normal clothes and to bed one night. It IS a great bra. I really liked it.

mesh laundry bag, padded inserts, flattering bra

As far as most features go it’s the same as any other sports bra; wicks away moisture, breathes, stays in place, provides support – all the things you want in a good bra that’s going to be used when you’re sweaty and working hard!

As far as where it’s different:

  • ruching in the center makes a femine figure both with and without padding (I even liked it without)
  • padding covers nipples (so they don’t show in cold gyms) and adds to make a more curvy appearance.
  • very comfortable around chest and ribcage.
  • stayed put and unnoticeable during all workouts.
  • thin straps – I thought the design was nice with the crossed back but the straps may be better if they were a little wider.
  • straps need to be adjustable. The XS straps just dug into me.

So bottom line – this is a GREAT bra for women wanting a more feminine figure. The best part is it also stacks up to the competition in the sports aspect too. I would highly recommend it. I feel 10, 000 times more comfortable during both workouts and runs. I just LOVE looking like I have a chest. haha I really like the design of it and I love that it doesn’t feel like a sports bra at all. If they made the straps adjustable I’d be sold :) Great Product.

  6. I just left them a comment on FB after liking their page. I LOVE the sound of these bras! Hard nips at the gym is a bad problem to have, especially while lifting weights with all the brohams at my gym. Hopefully I end up a winner!

I think my fave color is also nude bc I’ve never seen sports bras that color, and it would go nice with a white shirt!
