Colin is my Peeta

It looks so sappy and lame written in bold print up there but it’s true. I have known a time when I didn’t think I could love Colin in that way. A time where I actually did everything I could to push him away. Due to fear.

yep, we love each other

Good thing he wouldn’t allow it.

We’re a strange match but that’s why we work. He is my calm and I am the storm. Sometimes the only place I feel safe is in his arms. That’s why while I was reading the Hunger Games all I wanted was for her to choose Peeta….no spoilers here but I think you know how I feel about it πŸ˜‰

I may have mentioned it before but I feel like Colin compliments me. I love the idea of this relationship because most people search out looking for completion. A completion that doesn’t exist. No one can complete you but someone can help you become whole. And that’s what he does for me.

In a world that never stops haunting me he is my grounding source of safe.Β

So last night while we were having some much needed ‘down time‘ and a few drinks we picked out a whole whack of “your e-cards” that we felt we could relate to.

The Peeta one was so funny because I told Colin about this post, that I had in as a draft πŸ˜‰ and then we were arguing about movie choices as per usual …..our movie genres are so bi-polar it sucks. For some reason cuddling and watching Tangled for the 6th time just doesn’t appeal to Colin πŸ˜‰

Anyway, so here are our e-cards….

a) Grammar.Β Colin was raised on proper grammar. I suck at it. However, I’ve since been trained and will continued to be trained by him and his father. They taught me the difference between “me” and “I” in proper context and basically 90% of the world uses them wrong – thanks for pointing it out to me guys. Ignorance IS bliss.

example: will you guys be coming to the party? Yes, Colin and I will be coming. Did you have fun at the party? Yes, thanks for inviting me and Colin, we had a blast! (people will always say Colin and I – but you’d never say “thanks for inviting I”) <—- food for thought.Β

b) Egocentric.Β It was a pregnancy goal of mine to become a “milf” after Logan was born. Call me vain, superficial, narcissistic, whatever – I’ll call it like I see it “I’m a MILF<—- Colin told me so πŸ˜‰ Now all I need are breast implants….or in my case another Handful bra!

c) Interruptions. Another one for Colin – he was telling me all about how much I interrupt him. I asked him what the heck he was talking about, but that was in the middle of his explanation and therefore I have no idea.

d) Rebellion. Having pre-marital sex – the real reason Colin and I are even together πŸ˜‰

Logan was a surprise but we definitely found a lot more love through him and all his amazingness :) God bless him. To this day I am so thankful that he came into my life because he allowed me to finally see and accept the “Peeta Mellark” right in front of me πŸ˜‰

We just love each other :) I can’t wait to have another baby!!!

and just because I love you guys I’ll let you see this incriminating old photo of Colin and me…..

* Colin is gagging and calling me a nerd right now – he’s not impressed. – Yep, we do have a back story. We dated when we were teens. and then broke up and met up almost 8 years later…..I’ll tell it to you one day *

1. go pick an ecard that you think describes you and post below in the comments.

You can use <img src=”http://…..your link…..” width=”400″> hopefully that will work. If not just link it up :) or write it out.

2. are you in a relationship?? if, so what’s your favourite thing to do together? (no sex descriptions please)

I love just going for a walk with Colin and chatting in the moonlight. Sitting by the lake or walking through the trees.Β

3. Can you relate to any of the ecards posted above??Β

  1. Omg hahahahahaha that last pic is priceless!!! I really love that family shot. You guys are all so beautiful!

I AM in a relationship with a pretty delicious looking man. What do we like to do? I just like to stare at him with his shirt off hahaha kidding (kinda). I like working out with him! Going for walks is one of our favourite things to do together too :)

Dean NEVER uses “you’re”. It’s like it doesn’t even exist for him. He only used “your” no matter what he is trying to say. I have tried to explain it to him for so long now but he just won’t accept another word in his vocabulary!

    • lol that’s so funny that Dean boycotts You’re – in this world of technology “ur” is probably the norm anyway.

I’ve tried to explain that to Colin’s dad but he always corrects my grammar and reminds me not to say “like” πŸ˜› lol

  2. I think my favorite part of this post is that you have to ask readers not to comment on their sex lives. That just cracks me up for some reason!

Love those ecards and I have definitely spent way too much time in the past looking through them. Favorite thing to do with Tim is probably long, slow scenic runs – that and eating chocolate and watching marathons of bad reality TV shows together!

    • lol well that was a “just in case” someone came over here and decided to add – Oh you know what my favourite thing is….. lol

and I hope Colin and I can one day go on a scenic run :)

  3. I pushed my husband away at first also…so glad he did not give up on me. Crazy how we try to destroy something so good for us. I love the e-card you picked out.

    • Thanks for visiting Dawn :) You;’re so right! I guess it’s common for people to push the good things away. I’m just grateful I learned not to πŸ˜‰

  4. Omg I was cracking up at the last picture! Love it!!!! Haha, I love Colins beard. πŸ˜‰
I actually knew you grammar tip! Do I ever use it? nah. πŸ˜‰ Love all the ecards. πŸ˜€ Can’t wait to hear the story of you guys sometime!

    • hahaha thanks πŸ˜› it was in 2001 valentines day – we were on our way to a swing dance :) no joke, he took the classes with me! hahaha

      so I was 18!!! lol

  5. First date with my husband was my 18th birthday (Aug 1991). Dated all through college and married Aug 1995. We’ve had the usual ups and downs of relationships, but are in such a good place right now. Our kids (now 8 and almost 11) are at the age we can leave them for short periods of time and spend time together without always having to juggle a babysitter. I love just taking a walk or sitting on the porch or laying in bed and talking. I love how proud he is of me and all that I’ve achieved. I love how awesome of a dad he is and how helpful he is in making our household run smoothly (or with as little chaos as possible with two busy kids!). I haven’t read the Hunger Games yet so I don’t totally “get” the reference. But I have a soulmate and I can’t envision my life without him in it.

    • WOW! that’s a long time. No wonder you guys are solid. Colin and I started dating when I was 17 he was 23…..we broke up but somehow ended up together years later when I was 26!

If there are soulmates, he’s most definitely mine. I hope you get a chance to read Hunger Games – the books were really good and I tried not to give anything away πŸ˜‰

So happy you found your soulmate xo

  6. Wow that old photo of you two! Colin doesn’t even look like Colin!!

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one who pushed her Peeta Mellark away. I would basically tell Mike I wanted to break up constantly for five years (before we got engaged).

Mike and I do everything together! He’s my best friend, which is good because I don’t really have very many friends. Right now we are loving training together, though.

    • I know! He was sooooo skinny and the chin strap πŸ˜› HA!

and that’s so funny about you and Mike – you guys do seem perfect for each other.

      You need to come back!

  7. Cute post! I’m all over that “you’re” card!

Mark and I are climbing a mountain together this summer, but I don’t know if I would call that my FAVORITE thing to do together. LOL.

  8. OK… that last “younger” photo totally reminds me of GREASE. I think Rydell HIgh (if I remember the school name correctly) even had red sweat outfits…he looks a bit like Danny Zuko (spelling?) and that would make you his Sandra Dee.

  9. Love that last picture, and I love that you are wearing matching clothes in it. My husband and I can never agree on movies or TV very much either.

For the record I wanted her to stay with Gale so I was so disappointed with the ending, but the more I thought about it the more sense it made.

    • hahaha it was for Valentines Day πŸ˜› we’re nerds.

and Christy for some reason the fact that you liked Gale more doesn’t surprise me in the least :) I think your hubs is an outdoors kinda guy isn’t he?

    • Ya, most men suck – you won’t find me arguing. If I was single I’d blog lurk and try to pick up that way (no joke) as I have some hot runners on my dailymile – just saying πŸ˜‰

  10. I relate to this entire post – I am certainly a storm and Peter calm (my family always sides with him). But Peter SUCKS at grammar and spelling and always have to help him! So… I saw The Hunger Games for the 2nd time Friday – it makes me not really like Peeta anymore. They casted way too wimpy of a guy compared to how hot Gale is!!!

I am waiting for Peter to come home from his man trip. I haven’t seen him since Monday! I think we will do our favorite thing – order hot wings and waffle fries and watch the comedy shows we have on DVR.

Almost every Friday we go to the movies – we have opposite movie likings and we alternate who picks the movie each time!

This post made me smile – you’re one lucky lady!!!

    • YAY I love that you have a PETER – I always pronounce “Peeta” more like “Peet-ah” – a slang version of peter. lol

and I want wings and fries soooooo bad now. Off to convince Colin he should go buy them for me πŸ˜‰

  11. The best was “did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?” I only love it because I’m always interrupting people! Oops, I’m just so excited about some stuff.

My husband and I (that’s for Colin and his dad) like to ride motorbikes together, but just talking is up there too.

    • I know! Last night (we were drinking a bit) but I was laughing so hard at that one – like ridiculously over-laughing. B/c of the same reason. I think I’m more likable online b/c it’s impossible to interrupt in typing πŸ˜‰ lol

and Colin and his dad will love you for that proper use of I πŸ˜›

motorbikes! cool. I used to hang out with a bunch of people that liked to ride. I was just that girl that sat on the back or drove the quad while they rode dirtbikes πŸ˜›

  12. Oh my word, freakin’ adorable! I think it’s awesome that you aimed at being a MILF. I’d like to think I am too! ha ha ha!

As for Ward, he is my everything. But he does interrupt me in the middle of my sentences!

  13. I think you are dead on with how so many people are looking for someone who “completes” them when really, you are complete all on your own! Compliments are so much better and bring out the best in each other :) My boyfriend and I have been dating since I was 15 (he was 16; we’re now 21 and 22) and we have the best time just while driving somewhere in the car! Laughing at each other’s taste in music, singing, talking about our days, its so simple but it really is the best!

    • nope.. the e-card didn’t show for me

I’m glad we share a sense of humor and an understanding that I am slightly funnier.

Jack and I have been together 8 years, 11 months, and 3 weeks, but who’s counting ?
We are happy just sitting in our favorite chairs at night. He watches TV and I pretend to watch TV while I am reading blogs and such. One of my favorite things about us is that we say the same thing, at the same time, so many times. I love the laughter that we share.

p.s. when I saw the post title I thought you were really saying that he is your P.I.T.A. (pain in the…)
Peeta is so much nicer :)

  14. Aww shucks. That’s got to be almost the sweetest post ever. It describes how Iven are together in a lot of ways – and we’ve just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary.

As for the e-cards the interrupting one is so me. But it’s only because I know what the other person is saying before they finish their sentence :)

  15. Nothing quite like being married to someone who compliments you so completely! So happy for you :).

My favorite thing to do with my husband is go for jeep rides, hiking, and dinner dates.

  16. I love it when Danny and I get in the car and just drive without anywhere to go… We talk and sing along (loudly) to songs on the radio.
I definitely relate to the interrupting e-card… Danny is the WORST for not letting me finish what I am saying and it drives me bonkers!!
How cute were the teenage versions of you and Colin?! So sweet :)

  17. Aww I loved reading this post, you two are just such a lovely couple! It really made me smile :-) Tom has taught me a lot about grammar that I didn’t previously realise, obviously I was never awful but he knows much more haha. The interrupting e-card made my morning though, I’m always interrupting Tom πŸ˜› One of my favourite things to do as a couple is go for walks too, I also absolutely love just curling up together with a blanket and watching a film together or read :-)
