Hunger Games, Jellybean & Bathing suit!

Hey :)

I hope everyone had an awesome Easter weekend, maybe for a few of you are still enjoying the extended weekend πŸ˜‰

Last Easter we took more pictures then one could even imagine, this year we were just so exhausted (Logan included) we had a relaxing weekend with a few family visits.

To be completely honest I don’t even want to be writing write now, I want to be reading the Hunger Games – seriously! Why did I wait a millennium to jump on this bandwagon?!

...Colin is addicted to games on his phone

I think I’ve been addicted since page 5. Which is very rare for me. I usually find the first one or two chapters of a book very boring. Always having to tell myself – just keep going, it’ll get better. Not the case here! I was already excited.

————————

I did the Jellybean 21km cycle yesterdayΒ [50:53] and forgot to take a picture. How sad is that?? I’m not going to lie I had one of the greatest ideas ever! However, after checking out this years competition and knowing that this is an annual event – I’m not going to share, it’ll be a winner next year for sure!

I had been slowly taking on some rides last week in preparation for the JellyBean :)

I just love posting a full dailymile graph because for a while mine were basically empty! I’ve been keeping up with both April Challenges and I’m super excited to get to work with DD again for May πŸ˜€ I think she’s going to try and tackle a low body calendar – which makes me excited as I’m sure the other Ab-tastic girl will do an ab one again anyways :) SCORE!

I love all this extra strength I’ve been doing. To be honest I can’t even believe I can do pushups! I feel so hardcore :) – get it, hard CORE – just kidding. That was severely bad. I’ll never type out lame jokes again!

My inlaws were in Florida and they brought me back a Nike sport bathing suit!

I am scared to start swimming but at least now I have a bathing suit that is designed for sport use and now all I need is a cap :)

I go for my bone scan tomorrow so I’ll keep you all posted. I also work tonight and will be consumed in my book every Logan-free moment so I let me know if I’m missing anything amazing!!!

  1. I seriously love the Hunger Games!!!!! I just recently went to the movie and it was awesome!
I used to swim a lot. I would just do as many laps as I felt like I could do in a day. At one point I was able to swim a mile without stopping. I was pretty proud of myself. πŸ˜€ Just try to go during the day when all the kids are at school. Otherwise it will be packed!!
hmmm… the best part of Easter, all of the chocolate and we got a ham that was AMAZING!

  2. I am rereading the Hunger Games right now!! I can’t get enough, and I am still just as into it as I was the first time. SO GOOD.

My husband uses swimming as his primary source of cardio, he’s always been a fan. I, on the other hand, feel like I am drowning the whole time and I don’t understand how to take breathes without breathing in a bunch of water haha. Go for it!

    • I am seriously having a hard time not reading it at every second πŸ˜‰

I loved swimming but always HATED doing the front crawl, which I think is what a lot of people do. I always wanted to do breast stroke and back stroke.

  3. Didn’t do the Jellybean thingie.

Been swimming for years. Not nerve racking. Relaxing. Started swimming more seriously as an adult when for some reason I thought I wanted to be a lifeguard.

Best part of the Easter weekend was puttering around the house and relaxing. Oh, and updating my blogroll to include you and several others.

    • Hey Keith,

I am always excited to have another man in the mix :) The few others feel left out. lol and thank you for the blogroll love πŸ˜€ YAY!

and relaxing is my favourite part of all weekends, but I usually work. and I’ll be coming to you for some swimming tips when I get started. :)

  4. 1. did you race Jess’ Jellybean?? which event(s) did you do??
Nope, I had not heard about that one. Darn!

    2. do you swim?? if so how did you start?? was it nerve racking??
Yes, I do swim and it was very hard for me to do at first. Oh who am I kidding its still hard for me to do! I suck so it is hard for me to get to the gym and swim. I go through spurts. I will get on a roll and swim alot and then back off. Not good! I guess I should get back on it since I am doing a triathlon this year!

    3. what was the best part of your Easter weekend??
The best part of my weekend was seeing the Hunger Games movie, making a great Shepard’s pie and watching the Blade movies!

    • Ooooooh those are GREAT weekend bests :) I love shepherds pie and the HG πŸ˜‰

and I knew you were a swimmer, there are a handful of bloggers that are avid swimmers, yourself included, don’t sell yourself short πŸ˜‰

I just need to start – I keep putting it off. we even have all adult swims and lane swims daily ….hmmmmm

  5. I didn’t do the jellybean race – I didn’t know about it.

I read all three hunger games books in six days. AMAZING. The movie is good as well!

The best part of the Easter weekend is that I got to see all of my nieces (Hubs side – a 7 year old, twin 4 year olds, my sis – 10 year old) and nephew (sis – 13) and we ate lots of great food. I over did it on jelly beans not chocolate and my stomach HATES me today. UGG.

    • lol oh Nic! why waste stomach space on jellybeans when chocolate could be in its place ?? πŸ˜‰ lol

and I love when everyone gets together. We boycotted a family event this year just b/c I wasn’t ready to see that part of my family.

  6. Swimming: get goggles as well. It can take time to find ones that don’t leak and feel somewhat comfortable on your face. But they are necessary, along with the swim cap :)

I was nervous to start swimming, and it took me a lot of work to get ok at it…I found better swimmers sometimes asked if they could share advice, and it was often helpful. Also, there are really good tutorials on youtube. Plus, you could sign up for adult swim lessons :) Stick with it–it gets easier!

  7. I’m reading The Hunger Games during my free moments, which are few & far between. It’s killing me because I want to keep going but duty calls and I have to put it down. Gah! At this rate, I’ll be done by the time the next movie comes out. :p OK, not really. At least, I hope not anyway.

My parents have a pool and my Grandmother lives on the lake. So, as a kid, we were always in the lake (until it got nasty with pollution, I wouldn’t that water now with a ten foot pole) and, once we got a pool, we were in there all the time. I love swimming but have never swam laps in a big pool or anything like that. That intimidates me for some reason. Not only that but I hate getting into a bathing suit. :/ One of these days I’ll be comfortable enough to do it in a public setting.

I wanted to do the 5K & 10K for the jelly bean but timing got weird this weekend and I only ended up doing the 5K. Oh well, better than nothing. :)

Best part of my Easter weekend was having a low-key day with my boys. My 3.5 year old finally grasped the concept of gathering eggs so it was fun to do a mini egg hunt with him.

    • Oh I hear you on the reading – I want so bad to be done already. I’m actually looking forward to waiting at the hospital for once so I can read!

I am with you on the pool too! We had one growing up and I am so comfortable in and around water, but never had any interest doing laps, as it is intimidating.

  8. Read like the wind my friend. Don’t get anything spoiled. You better plow through the next two books soon before someone tells you what happens. God, I’m so paranoid about spoilers. Hunger Games has the best story though!

  9. Love, love, love that series. The movie is awesome as well :)

The best part of Easter, the food of course! Or more specifically the desserts/sweets!

Oh and I actually purchased a dress this year. Like the first in years!!

    • Great to hear Helen :) and I definitely need to head on over to your page to see what you cooked up this weekend :)

and see you in that dress!!!!! I hope there’s pics!

  10. That’s awesome you did the jellybean race, sounds like it was so fun! And I totally feel ya on the Hunger Games, I couldn’t put it down when I first read it haha
Good luck at the bone scan tomorrow!! :)

  11. I did the 10k and 5k for JellyBean, too… great job on your bike ride! I haven’t read the Hunger Games yet, but still plan to. I do swim, but I’m not good- I just swim laps for a change of pace every few weeks, and I always enjoy it. I’m not sure why I can’t get myself to the pool more often!

  12. We saw the HG movie over the weekend! Not as involved as the books but very good and the 2.5 hours flew.
Highlight for me was saying goodbye to my MIL. She’s a prize.

    • LOL!!!!!!! Marcia that was amazing πŸ˜‰

I used to dislike my inlaws but that was right after Logan was born and I felt like they were trying to take over. I laid out some boundaries and now they’re buying my bathing suits! lol

but I feel you on having in laws that suck! My ex’s mom was a “prize” as you call it πŸ˜‰

  13. Now I can’t wait to start reading the Hunger Games. I bought the trilogy last week but I’ve lent them to my son’s girlfriend first (she’s an incredibly fast reader). Everyone says how good the books are.

  14. YES, u finally got into hunger games…haha! :)

looks like u guys had a great Easter and i love these whole jelly belly themed workout action everyone is doing…how did i totally miss the boat, do i live in a bloggy bubble?? lol.

anyways, GOOD LUCK both in the pool and on ur bone scan!! sending u all my best positive vibes and as for the pool, i can doggie paddle and at least not drown…that’s about it. πŸ˜‰

    • Virtual races sometimes just slip on by! I got your email FYI! I just have yet to respond but I wanted you to know I think you’re awesome πŸ˜€

and thanks so much for your love and support Cait!!!!!! you are one talented and lovely person xo

    • Are you still on DM??? I know you only joined out of peer pressure πŸ˜‰ and I love all those things too! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter πŸ˜€

  15. I just finished the books over the weekend! I absolutely loved them! I understand your obsession, I did not put them down for a week straight I swear! ha
I’m not a swimmer, always wanted to be though! They always have such great toned bodies, I’m jealous!

    • Ya, maybe you can start swimming “with” me ?? – I am too scared to venture out on this alone.

and I am so happy to hear everyone is loving these books as much as I am

  16. I did the Jellybean 5k, but got busy and forgot to send pictures. Oh, no worries about the Hunger Games. My niece and nephew were visiting and wanted to go see the movie. I was reluctant because I never wanted to read the books but I promptly bought them for my nook when the movie ended. :)

    • Hahaha! I am so happy the movie was that good. I want to go this week!!!!! Maybe even tonight if I can grab a baby sitter.

Oh and I hope you win a prize Sabrina!

  17. Good luck at your bone scan.

I love The Hunger Games. You’ll love the books, the first one is definitely the best! There is also a book called Divergent that is similar to The Hunger Games that you might like.

    • Thanks so much Heather!!!

and this comment scares me :( I hate when the first one has all the action :(

and thanks for more book recommendations, It’s now on my list of books to read.

  18. I did the jelly bean race. I completed 3 of the 4 events. No time for a half marathon this week. oh well maybe next time. I didn’t take a picture either, I will plan for that a bit better for future races.
I completely understand the nervousness about swimming I just started about 3 weeks ago for the triathlon I am doing in 53 days(super nervous) I do not like to swim and am not very good at it, but I am going to give it my all and do the best I can in the swim and hope the bike and run go well!

    • WOAH! congrats Andrea!

and this is such great and exciting news! I love that you just threw yourself into it. I am scared but I should suck it up and do the same. I hope you smoke your tri. I am going to be visiting more often for your new swimmer tips.

  19. What fun in-laws you have to buy you a bathing suit! I need in-laws like that. Except I hate structured swimming. I like to do my own strokes that I make up at my own pace. Or play Marco Polo or something like that. I sink like a rock if I try to do anything with “real” strokes.

    • LOL ya, I was surprised. They asked if there was anything we needed/wanted and I said a sports bathing suit that was plain and not girly. They delivered.

and I am soooooo with you. Marco Polo and water pool games are my favs!

  20. You already know that I LOVE the Hunger Games!! Only about 100 pages left of the third book :( I’ll have to re-read them again before the second movie. And don’t worry, I took forever to jump on the bandwagon too!

And you already know that I swim :) I started when I was 8 (competitively) and I think that helped me get over the nerve-wracking part of it! Just take it one step at a time, you’ll get better!

  21. Hunger Games is the best, so are s’mores made with cadbury eggs and peeps, Nike swimsuits rock, and good luck at your bone scan! Is this the one where they inject you with dye and then you come back 4 hours later?

    • OMG! you’ve just ruined me – I want those Easter s’mores. and to be honest I can’t find peeps here. Why does Canada suck for candy goodness???

and YES that’s what’s happening – injection – waiting and then apparently the scan take an hour…..I don’t know if I can hold my pee that long πŸ˜‰ lol

  22. good luck with the scan girl!
if i ever came across a hunger games at a cheap bookstore or was lent one, i’d definitely read it….i just suck at buying things full price haha.

    • borrowing from my mom – I was still on the wait list at the library. I highly recommend getting a library card – where reading is free πŸ˜€

  23. YAY! You got your swimsuit!! Now all you need are cap and goggles and you’re set! Let’s see, I learned to swim because I was injured like you! I thought I was pretty special when I was able to make it to the end of the pool without stopping to hold on to the wall! Now look at me! It’s so relaxing and it doesn’t beat up your body! Talk about strong abs and obliques, I got ripped from swimming!

Easter was good! We had the kids at the water park! Of course they loved it!

    • YAY!!!!! I am super excited but still haven’t commited by purchasing the “annual swim membership” yet…..but I think buying something I can actually wear is a good start πŸ˜‰

Glad you and the kids had a good time. I love water parks, how fitting πŸ˜‰

  24. Just finished all three Hunger Games books on Easter. I loved them and am sad to be done!

I swam as a kid in a lake–no swim team or formal instruction–then started up again as an adult to do triathlons. I really love swimming and find it’s a great balance to running. I hope you do too!

  25. Biking, swimming…

    Triathlon?

I’ve been swimming for almost two years now. I was terrified when I first started. Sometimes you just have to swallow any nervousness or fear and do it anyways. One of the best things I ever did.

  26. Playing some catch up – great bike ride and awesome swim suit!

I raced the half marathon and the 5K, although I can’t remember if I put in my 5K time now. Oops. :) I’ll do better next year!

I LOVE swimming….recreationally. I am a terrible athletic swimmer. I want to work on that because I’d love to do a tri some day. I’ll need a fancy suit like the one you have! :)
