I’ve been ZWOW’d

Alright guys – it’s that time again….the end of the month where I reflect on past monthly challenges and create new ones.

First off – don’t worry there is a July workout calendar and I have posted it for you all on the monthly challenge page. I however, will not be participating in it over the summer. I’ll most likely jump back in come fall. If you don’t what the heck I’m talking about go here, and join the group!

here’s the July calendar for those that want to grab it!

I am still contemplating signing up for a half marathon for the fall but right now I am actually enjoying my runs for what they are: just running :)

So what will I be doing?

Taking all my recent strength training to the next level – I rocked out my first ZWOW workout with Zuzana Light and I LOVED IT!!!!! I seriously felt so hardcore!

So I am hoping that I’ll be able to do a zwow every week day and take the weekends off. I am kind of scared to commit to it as my plank goal last month was an epic fail! oops.

I think that when you start to fall off of a workout plan you have to step back and ask yourself….

…WHY?

I found my answer right away….I was getting bored. My body is showing no changes! The calendars were old news and becoming too easy for me. They were GREAT at getting me a good base and now I’ll be following Zuzka for the month of July and I’ll be sure to post before and after photos.

Change is good for me and I’m SUPER excited to try taking my fitness to the next level :D

Plus, since I am now working 2 jobs and have no time I think these shorter, more intense workouts will be doing much more for me :)

Questions:

1. did you meet all of your fitness goals for June??

not even close. I think I did the calendar every other day (stock piling the days I missed) hardly any planks and really fell by the wayside.

2. are you a bodyrocker or Zuzana fan?

To be honest, bodyrock seems helpful but I can’t follow the vids. I feel like I should be masterbating, not working out. Zuzana is much more workout focused and not as sexual – but she’s still hot ;)

3. do you have to switch your workouts up a lot?? get bored easily?

I’m already bored of this post ;)

    • Ya, I am KILLING in my arms and chest after doing that workout on the vid I posted yesterday, but the short time and the intensity left me wanting more! I think these will be my kind of workouts ;)

    • Tonight I start! – I now this is bad but I’m going to have to decrease my availability b/c I can’t work Sundays or I’d never see my family all together and I think that would drive me nuts. I’m going to add that challenge to the page THANKS!

      • It’s not bad to need to take a family day! Between my two jobs Saturday is my only full day off and work knows not to even think about scheduling me unless they’re totally stuck! Good luck tonight!

  1. May and June were big fails for me in the workout department. These next few weeks I am just going to focus on working out 5 times a week. It’s back to basics for me.
And this is the first I have heard of ZWOW.

Good luck with your new job! :)

  2. I love that you talked all about being bored easily right after you changed up your blog background! Which I LOVE by the way!
I do P90X. And love it! There are 12 different workouts so you never really get bored. :)
Good luck at the new job!

  3. I didn’t meet my fitness goals either. :( I have been super sick these past two weeks with sinus and chest infections. It’s been rough. I think I got in 2 days last week and they were pretty weak!
I have never heatd of Zuzana. I am out of it. I must go check her out.
I get SO bored with workouts!! I think it’s good to switch it up!!

    • Awww being sick and trying to workout is the worst. I always take time off when I’m sick. I have never understood how people can workout and be sick! I hope you like her

  4. I have been SO bad with actually working out-other than running and a doing yoga twice a week. I got two new DVDs a couple of months ago and haven’t even taken the wrapper off. I fogot I said I was going to use a chart for core work-didn’t. Suck. Also- I have never heard of the zabado thing or other. Dear dear- the summer I tell you. it is all going to happen then

    • I haven’t run since Sunday. I wanted to today but my body is so tired after that intense workout. I think I may have to run after work tonight! argh.

  5. upping the weight is a GREAT way to see changes in your body. Heavier weights for less reps is the best way to build muscle. Low weight and low reps are NOT the way to tone. It’s a myth that has been perpetuated somehow that needs to go away! Don’t worry, you won’t turn into Arnold! I can back squat 130 lbs and bench 75 (working on getting this higher) and I am still a size 6/7 and a small up top..

    • WOW that’s awesome! I’ve actually been searching for used weight sets on kijiji ;) as I want to start getting RIPPED!!!!!

and your body looks great Holly. I think it’s pretty hard for women to bulk up

  6. I laughed out loud reading this – especially the Bodyrock comment! I kinda agree though, holy butt and boob shots!

You should definitely do the half in the fall… Half marathon is my favourite distance to run. It’s enough that it’s challenging, but the pace is never so much that I feel especially uncomfortable running (like I do in a 5k!) and it doesn’t take too much recovery time – but I also feel like a champ after running one :)

    • LOL – to be honest Jenn I wrote this post last night after work – I COMPLETELY forgot I left that comment in ;) lol

I really want to I’m just deciding btwn two different ones :) If I do sign up I’ll have to start a plan come mid july!!!! exciting :D

  7. How do I get these workouts! I find myself lacking if i am not seeing any changes! Sometimes I forget that change is sometimes a slow crawl. Maybe I need to personally lay off the nachos and sweets – but who’s counting!!

Enjoy your running – you will sign up for your half when you feel ready to!

    • go to her fb page and then click on her youtube channel – theyre all there – or just go to youtube and type in “ZWOW [any # between 1 and 23] I did ZWOW #22 today!

I eat all that crap too – I can’t stop. I’ve been trying though because I’d love to feel healthier ;)

  8. Hmmm wow I never heard of ZWOW before and I’m intrigued!!! I can’t really say that I have or haven’t met my fitness goals for June simply because I didn’t really set any. i’m really craving some sort of strucutred program right now though like I did in the winter when I did the 30 day shred and ripped in 30 back-to-back. I just might have to give ZWOW a try! :)

      • I absolutely LOVED the shred and ripped!! Saw some GREAT results! I would totally consider tackling the Shred again next month if you want to do it together! i’ve been meaning to up my weights all around (have been shopping for a set of 8lbs) and would loe to try and power through the shred with those!

  9. I get bored by workouts easily and need to mix it up. That’s partly why I take classes and started biking. I needed the variety, and its been working out well :) I didn’t meet all of my June goals but thats okay.. I’ll keep working on them through July!

  10. I think it’s good to spice things up with workouts. In my opinion anything gets boring after awhile. Glad you’ve found something you really like!

  11. I’ve been kicking June’s A#$!!! 94 miles so far!!!

Good for you for just running for fun – I plan to take some time off for unplanned running after my half-marathon! Right now I am on a schedule!

    • I had to pick up another job – serving at a mediterranean restaurant. Had my first shift tonight and it went great :) They want to give me 30+hrs a week which is great, but the hours are probably going to kill me ;)

  12. hahaha…i have total ADD and usually get bored of everything after about one min (attention span shorter that ur cutie Logan!!) but the exception is running. odd, considering it’s one of the most monotonous things u can do!! oh well. :)

hey, awesome job on the month of sweating for u, but i’ve never even heard of this zazu…zambu..zazzowo thing u speak of. ;) looks like fun and some serious embarrassment with my name written all over it! ;)

  13. I hate when I fall into a workout rut – the only way to get out of it is to try something different! I’m sure Zuzana will help shake things up for you. I’ve never heard of it but just the word “burpee” is a surefire that it’s hardcore!

  14. I’ve been keeping up with my workouts but my nutrition hasn’t been as on point as I would have liked it to be. That’s always the weak area for me. I eat pretty healthy but it’s not “perfect” as in timed correctly and protein/carb/fat ratios are not always right. Programs that are outlined so specifically (nutrition-wise) make me go nuts and it’s so hard to follow!

I love Bodyrock and Zuzana but haven’t done their workouts in a while. I might try some of Zuzana’s this summer. I love that they are real time and you can actually work out “with” her!

  15. That’s great that you are changing it up, that’s how your body changes :)

I think having three sports to train for helps us not feel bored with our training and we are adding some strength training too, I’m doing that 30 day ab challenge in July. I haven’t done any bodyrock or Zuzana workouts yet though!

Add some awesome...
