So last night was my first serving shift at the restaurant I got a second job at. It went really well. The owner even told me he could guarentee me 30+hrs a week!!! which is amazing considering my other job shows me no long-term loyalty love and has been giving me 8hrs/week <—- how do I survive on that!
…but at least I get clothes, right?
This new job doesn’t even require a uniform – just all black. EASY!
They said they’re fine with working around my other job and are also fine with my decision to never work a Sunday 
I need at least one day a week to spend with my family.
The only issue I’m faced with is business hours. They don’t concern me right now because I’m new, but weeknights the closing shifts go till 2am and Saturdays till 4am! argh – it’s going to be an adjustment. So that means I’ll most likely be working EVERY night and Saturday. I’ll only be seeing Colin as we pass each other on his way in and my way out and on Sundays.
I’m scared I’ll end up looking like this….
…aside from the man parts and fur
We’ll see.

In other news Logan is the best kid ever! he “made me” breakfast in bed…
….I have no idea why a toy adjustable wrench was included.
….sorted the already folded laundry for me 
and has decided that running around naked is his new favour outfit – I’m wondering if it’s because I read him the Emperor’s New Clothes or if it’s the fact that he can touch himself whenever he wants…. I’m just not going to think about it

One thing is for sure though – he is my little handsome man and I love him to bits!
We are all heading up to Colin’s cottage this weekend to spend time with his family. I won’t be back till Thursday. I am a morning bird! I hate being up past 10! I would not do well with a job like that, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do! Good luck with the new job.
My kids would rather run around naked and since they are 4 and 5 I am starting to discourage it a little more.
Oh my goodness. My eyes start closing at about 10am. That’s why I was never a partier in university. I just couldn’t stay up. Plus I hate alcohol. I made for one LAME friend haha. I think you will be okay though. You know what you want and what you need to do and that’s exactly what you’re doing.
I’m a teacher so the school I was at this year was 8:30-2:30. I got pretty lucky, as I was home by 3pm every day.

Whoa that is going to be an adjustment, but sooner or later you will find that routine and comfort. Good for you for doing this!
I am ALMOST getting up by 4AM ..crazy. But, I am in bed by 9 if can be and up by 5AM….no night owl here.
My Y is only open til 10pm during the week and 9pm on Sat./Sun. so its not terrible if I ever have to work a closing shift.

I’m really lucky to have a great job. I work from 8 in the morning till anywhere between 2:30 and 4 in the afternoons, depending on my kids.
I’ve been serving for over 20 years and I’m a day person. I’m a total bitch to my tables by the end of the night but its good money and we’ve never had to use a babysitter. I always joke that its how my marriage has survived. LOL It’s tough but us moms have to do what we have to do. Once you get used to the hours you’ll be fine. Just try to get some naps in.

Yikes!! I’m a night owl, but even my eyes don’t see 3AM or 4AM. I actually used to work a position for a year+ where I’d have to wake up at 4AM, and it has traumatized me for life — now I REFUSE to see that number, I avoid it like the plague!
I’m assuming those late shifts are phenom potential for amazing tips & might be hot nights to take advantage of for as long as you can, then maybe give them away OR swap Saturday for Sunday if you become a zombie!

Retail/Restaurant hours are killer. More so during the holidays but if you can make it work for you and you family then you will do alright. It’s really nice they have already agreed to you having Sunday’s off. Huge plus right there!
those hours sound so sucky to me, you just have to adjust your routine a bit.
I get up at 6 and leave the house at 6.45 to get to school (i’m a teacher) and get ready-school starts at 7.45. Days are different- today I wasn’t home until 8pm as we had an after school event. I usually leave around 4.30 or 5…that i when I run. I am used to getting up early-so my weekend runs are early.

I work a fairly boring desk job with hours that are pretty standard: 8-5 mon-fri. It works for me for now.
I am definitely NOT a night owl!! lol my hubby always gets mad at me Friday nights when I’m half asleep on the couch by 9:30.. I always get “But it’s FRIDAY! how can you be tired?!” .. I then have to explain that Friday’s are no different from Mon-Thurs as I still wake up at the same time and still have to sit at a desk all day.
Ooo I have a couple of little vacations coming up! The last weekend of July, my mom and 2 sister-in-laws are going up to The Briars on Lake Simcoe for a girls weekend! We all went last March as a bachelorette sort of thing for me and are now making it an annual tradition. Then in September, my parents are taking me & my brothers, along with our spouses for a 4-day weekend to Disney World!! One last family vacation before we all start popping out babies lol We’re all super excited.
Currently I’m a waitress as well..can’t beat the tip money from that! Logan is adorable!
I’m going to the beach saturday for a FULL week! I haven’t been away for a full 7 days in quite a few summers- it’s gonna be awesome!

I know exactly how you feel with the seeing each other in passing. I work 730am-430pm (sometimes much later) and Matt works 330pm-1130pm. Now he has taken up working on Saturdays too from 7am-4pm, so we really only see each other on Saturday night/Sunday. You get used to it and it will teach you to cherish your time with each other when you DO see each other.

Good luck with your new job!! I don’t know if I could stay awake past 12. I’ve especially become a morning person since I had a kid. Yes…a total adjustment.
But I’ve been fortunate to get to stay at home so I can nap if I need to.
I used to work as a server as well! Good money but the hours were so hard with the boy! We never saw each other! So worth it for little Logan though! You are such a hard worker Ali! Congrats on the new job! Hopefully the touch hours won’t be for long and this will lead you to something better!!!
I’m on vacation right now! Visiting my mom in FL. We’re a whole family of night owls.
Naked was my first two kids default uniform. My mother used to despair that they were always nude. But unless it was cold it didn’t really bother me. My last son had modesty issues and would rather have died than be caught sans clothes. Funny how they’re all different.
Congrats on the new job! Those late night hours are not for me – I can’t do anything productive after about 9 each night. I’m going on vacation in 6 days to see my family in Germany and England and I can’t wait – I miss them!
Congrats on the new job! : ) I work 9-7. So I don’t have to get up too early, but it seems to take up my entire day. I don’t think I would like working till 2 or 4 in the morning. Those hours are made for sleeping for this body.

I’m totally a morning person! I really always have been. I’m a teacher though so it works…I need to be just a little more awake than my high schoolers at 7:20 am! I’m going on a vacation with Em starting Sunday…we’re going to visit my parents for the whole month of July. Can’t wait!!
