High Five Friday – Some Awesome Things!

I’ve decided to do another HFF that the cutest Meg @ A Dash of Meg started because I have been cruising the blog-o-sphere and there is just too many awesome accomplishments NOT to do one :)

So let’s do this!

First palm slap goes to Christy @ My Dirt Road AnthemShe just ran her very first marathon and despite having stomach issues finished in under 4hrs!!!!!! WAY TO GO COWGIRL :) For those of you that don’t read her, she is an amazing athlete and country girl and always has some awesome posts about her current training :)

I’m so proud of you Christy!!!!

Next we have the hottest Meghan @ Un-cooked & Un-walkedShe started a goal project where you can tell her your current goals, how you’re doing and when you complete them and she’ll link you up and shout them out! WHAT FUN :D Plus she also has a cool pinterest link on this post all saving money while working out = HIGH FIVE LADY!

Super big high TENS to Cory @ Fast Cory for rescuing his staff and this cutie lizard that was running around ramped at his work place.

I’m pretty sure he never blogged about this but I think his blog is amazing if you like insanely high jump shots, ridiculously good photography and insane ultra training :)

Danielle gets a huge hug and a high five this week for getting one of her clean eating recipes published in a magazine!!!! YAY :) She blogs at Work it Wear it Eat it and I love her. She is a fashion guru, and an inspiration for those looking to weight train and eat well….not to mention look good :)

SO happy for you :D

Michelle @ 26.2 before 40 get’s a high five for beginning her full marathon training!!!! WAY TO GO! She is having fun while doing it and keeping an open-mind with all of her optimism. She is an army wife and looks after her kids alone much of the time all while balancing working out and life!

She’s AWESOME!!!!!!

Ok so those are my High Five this Friday! I didn’t link up pages today on facebook but please visit my page and leave your fb page links there if you have them :)

I wanted to leave you with this awesome Coldplay lyrics (mainly because I listened to this song yesterday while running and got so happy)

No I don’t want to battle from beginning to end. Don’t want to cycle, recycle revenge. I don’t want to follow death and all of his friends” <—— It’s true, start thinking about July’s Spread the Love and start putting a smile on your face. Any negativity we have we put on others, so start spreading LOVE :D

Oh and one last thing….

I also wanted to give myself a HIGH FIVE because I finally feel SEXY again….and feeling sexy is something that’s always been very important to me. If you don’t feel it, no one else is going to make you feel it. I’m so happy I can look at myself and see that fun-loving, saucy minx in the mirror again…..and I’m sure Colin is excited too :)

Don’t worry new moms – it’ll come back!!!!!

Questions:

1. As a woman, what traits or things make you feel sexy??

I’ve always been a huge advocate of a woman feeling empowered by feeling hot in their own skin. I find getting a new outfit, taking the time to do my hair and makeup more than usual and other small things – like a tan in the backyard go a long way in making me feel great! Not to mention how great I feel after an awesome workout!!!

I’m just loving my new found confidence!!!!!!!!!! :D I thought I’d lost it forever.

2. have you ever run a marathon?? any tips for Christy (who just ran one) or Michelle (who’s just begun training)??

3. ever had you recipe published?? ever made a recipe from a magazine??

no, and alas, no :(

  1. Awh thanks for the shout out! Xpxo. I’ve actually had a couple recipes published online. I’ll have to send them to you! Sexy momma!!

  2. Yay – high 5′s to all!

I’m training for my first full myself, so I’ll read any tips in the comments rather than have any at the moment. :D

  3. Aw – you’re the sweetest!!! I am putting people’s goals up for next week! Thanks, girl.

I am glad I came in to read some posts during tanning to be a hottie for my best friend’s Bachelorette party tomorrow. Whenever I feel sexy – I find myself a new piece of lingerie and then feel extra sexy! Now go get some ;)

  4. Getting in a good workout is one way I usually feel sexy! And those few days when I actually have the time to get ready, fully ready, I love those days too! :)
Good for you Ali! You sure are one SEXY mama!!!! ;)

  5. I love your picture! Thank you for suggesting the pages.
I feel sexy after a hard workout and when I have time for myself to do my hair and nails, take a long and relaxing bath, dress up a little even if that means changing my workout outfits for cute dresses and when my husband gives me a compliment.
I have never run a marathon but I am considering my first attempt next year, let’s see. I should continue on training mode after I run the half in September!
I was subscribed to Cooking Light years ago and I still find myself going through the magazines looking for recipes either to try or re-make. Internet search for recipes has made my life easier and help me save my favourites recipes in a more organized way. Sometimes I think I have an addiction to recipes and hoard them, ha, ha, ha; you can see that on my Pinterest, although I put them in use and surprise my hubby all the time as he never knows what is going to be for dinner unless he requests something.
Cooking is a joy for me; these days when is so warm outside that I do not feel like turning the stove on because I do not want to feel that I am steaming myself eating raw has been an adventure and very easy too. Have you tried raw food?

    • Carmen, I haven’t eaten much raw foods – unless you count sushi, fruits and veg :) I’ve heard great things about it and that’s it’s extremely healthy. I too will contemplate doing a full next year :) I wanted to do one this fall but being injured changed those plans.

I can’t wait to post some more recipes, as I’ve been creating some amazing things lately!

      • Hahaha, you are seriously too funny and I adore it. I am also new to raw food but it has been a delicious discovery; last night I made soft ground beef tacos-I still have not figured out why the name as there was not beef involved but walnuts, maybe the consistency of the mix?- and it was out of this world.
2013 a marathon for Ali and Me :)

  6. I love your high five posts! I’ve only run one marathon and still have a lot to learn- my only advice is to respect the distance. It really took a lot out of me!

    • Respect the distance sounds like AWESOME advice Laura. I think many people don’t….myself included. Back when I was contemplating doing a full I think I thought I’d be “easy” not easy but you know what I mean….definitely wasn’t respecting it.

  7. Confidence makes me feel sexy, some days I have it others I don’t.
No recipes published but I make them from magazines all the time. Maybe someday I will have one published.
I have run 3 marathons and am currently training for my 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th at the same time. I am CRAZY i know!!
My advice is really LOVE running and fuel properly and keep going even if you have a bad run, we all have them!

  8. You know what? Super high tens right back at you. I award you super high tens for making me laugh, um, always.

I don’t have any womanly tips because, despite the name Cory being uni-sex, I am male. But I’ve run a marathon. My one tip there: start slow. Uncomfortably slow. Don’t get caught up in the hype of the crowd, otherwise you will be seriously regretting it around mile 18. (Been there, done that.)

  9. Love the high 5s! Isn’t Chrisy the best? Taking on her 1st marathon, icky belly and coming in sub4? Wow! Someday I’ll be a sub4 marathoner!!! & you do look awesome, but I’ve always thought you looked awesome. I’m sure Colin loves your sexiness.

    • Christy is the best :) I can’t believe that. I don’t even know that I could finish a marathon, let alone in 4 hrs lol

and thanks so much Jen! I need to work on my eating but other than that I’m feeling good!

  10. High Fives all around! You look amazing and I don’t think you realize how much of an inspiration you are to all your readers. You look great Ali Mc!

    • Thanks Suz :) and you’re right, I don’t. I don’t find myself very inspirational….just trying to make small changes and go with the flow :D this comment made my day! xoxox you are such a nice person :)

  11. Ali, you are to dang cute!! I will always think you are sexy!! I have never considered myself sexy but I will say I feel best after an amazing workout!! I don’t know if I would call how I feel “sexy”, but I sure do feel amazing! :)
