Let the training begin & TV

Ok so for those of you that don’t know already – I finally finished my half marathon training plan. I’m pretty excited about it.

I ran my slow easy 2 miles yesterday (because I missed it tuesday) and I must say, I loved it! As much as I wanted to go faster I stuck with the pace times in the legend on my training page and felt so good after this short run.

*like that sports bra?? I’ll be giving one away next week :) YAY!!!

I think finally getting back into speedwork is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to hit up a track :)

My tentative pace for my race is around 10min/mile. So a sub 2:30 half marathon, which I feel is totally achievable in 16 weeks of training. If it’s over I’m not even going to complain. Bottom line is that I train smart and finish <—– look at me I’m all grown up :)

I am sorry I keep talking about the ZWOW’s but I’m loving them for my current schedule! I think it’s amazing that I can get a solid workout in such a sort period of time. My muscles always kill the next few days, so you know it’s working :)

I’m a warrior!!!

…Logan is a television zombie.

Anyway, I can’t wait to go blog creeping today – as I am finally off! so it should be good fun!

PS: who else watched SYTYCD last night and loved every performance?! – I think that for the most part everyone was awesome!! I’m excited :)

although this was my favourite one….

Questions:

1. what was your last run??

2. who else is training for their first half??

3. Bacherloette – Jef or Ari??

I said it best in a comment on HRG – I’d have given Ari the fantasy suite key and then picked Jef at the end ;) ….I’m one of those girls: I like to have my cake and eat it too!

  1. I’m training for my first half this year…tentatively September 8…super duper nervous. I’m looking for a 10 minute mile too! :D We can commiserate together!

I love Logan looking at the TV…cracks me up!!!

  2. Congrats on your training schedule! I’m super excited for you!
I had a beautiful run this morning!

I think she should pick Jef, but will pick Ari.

  3. I obviously love the schedule – it looks like mine. Keep me in the loop on how you’re progressing so we can ensure its working.

I have watching So You from last night – I probably won’t get to it next week. I love the Belly Dancer though.

When I see Ari and Emily kiss I so badly went to get in on it because Ari seems like a fox and so passionate. Jef has grown on me and I have consistently liked Ari and Emily together. Therefore – I like the consistency and want Ari to win!

    • Here’s the deal (coming from a mom who’s basically married to a “jef”) – Ari and Emily no doubt have sexual chemistry…..but sometimes (actually MOST times) all that heat continues into other ares of the relationship. I LOVE Ari and have wanted him to win since the beginning until this week….Jef seems to have grown into a real caring dad to be and I think as a mom, she should pick him. Ari isn’t going to be a good fit for her – HE’S AWAY all the time.

hence why she should’ve screwed people calling her a slut – let him into the over night fantasy suite, had her way with him and then picked Jef ;)

      ….that’s how I would’ve played it. lol I’m such a whore! lol

      • BAHAHAH! Tots get it. Since she was engaged to a race car driver I assume she knows what the life is.

My major concern with Jef is his family. They didn’t seem to warm up to her like he claims they did and I think it is a crock that his parents weren’t there and doing “charity.” I think they are going to give her and Ricky a very hard time.

  4. I have never watched SYTYCD, but that picture looks amazing. I love watching Dancing with the Stars, so I think I’ll have to tune in to SYTYCD soon.

Jef all the way for Emily. There is something about Arie that I just don’t like.

    • YAY Paula – read my above response to Meghan – it’s the fact that Ari and her chemistry is purely sexual. Jef is genuine :)

SO happy to see you xoxox

  5. You will totally get a sub 2:30….seriously you will probably rock out a 2:00 even…I am all about taking it slow…

So, after all your hip issues everything is feeling fine finally??? Just curious since I am kind of going through my own but on the road to recovery. ;-)

    • I did see that you are having hip pain….ARGH! be careful. Truth be told I don’t have the cash to go to regular physio but yes, I am still in pain after my runs. I’ve been hardcore with my core strengthening and such but my rehab will take a while. My legs are so used to running wrong…..ie: my right still assumes it should over compensate for the left, so I have to be very conscious during my runs. HOWEVER, rolling and icing has helped and although I’ve been slacking on my exercises I think it will eventually get better.

      Did you get a diagnosis??

      • I got a cortisone shot in my outer bursa…huge difference…then he said if my inner bursa doesn’t heal on its own I should have an MRI and check to see if there is a tear or just inflammation…and if I wanted/needed repair or just another cortisone shot in that bursa…however, b/c its smaller they need to give the shot with help of a computer screen…ugh…I have been icing and taking IBU and strengthening my muscles all around and core too…its a little bothersome but not ready for the MRI road yet. ;-)

Way to go training for your half though.

  6. Yep, watched SYTYCD last night, too. Loved that dance you pictured. Travis in one of my favorite choreographers on that show.
Good luck with your training plan. Kind of wish I was training right now to run a half, but right now won’t work out. Soon, maybe.

  7. Your half marathon training schedule looks wonderful, you did A great job at creating something that works for you and your everyday life.
I ran tempo yesterday for 35 minutes then at a comfortable pace for 12 minutes; 5 miles total pushing my daughter in her stroller while she took a nap. I need to find the time right?
Would running a half marathon for the first time after my delivery counts as my first one? I am running in September and I am amin for 9 min/mi
Good luck to all of us with our training and race!

    • Nice Carmen! you are such an awesome athletic mom :) I really need to invest in a running stroller. If I ever have another one you can be sure I will.

I am so excited for your half coming up in september. a 9min pace is great! Inside my head is already thinking – I could do that…but I know I have to keep it slow and realistic. :)

      • The Bob stroller is the best, especially when I take it on our off road walks and I will strongly recommend it if you have a second baby.
There is a lot you can read and do to improve your pace but your body not your mind will let you know when you are ready for it. I believe our minds trick us into what we cannot do even before trying, such a chicken! However, determination and a drive to surpass your expectations will push you to go further, just give it a try. Ali, I am sure you can do it! :)

  8. Your schedule looks good! You’ll rock that half no problem, and probably way quicker than 2.5 hours too! I love that picture of Logan. Too funny. Your toes are distracting me in that picture though! LOL

I thought that those ZWOW’s were all like HIIT? If it’s strength I’ll try them out for sure. It’s hard enough for me to keep weight on with running, I try not to add too much more cardio into my routine.

In regards to your comment on my DM this morning, I always go out around 6am. It’s the only time that I can fit it in which totally sucks if I’ve worked the night before. :P

    I’m training for my first 30k. :)

I’ve never watched the Bachelor/ette. I’ve never really been interested in that one. I do like SYTYCD but rarely get to see it.

    • ya my toes looks crazy! lol the zwows are HIIT but the moves are so hardcore that I’ve been building muscle. So no, it’s not strength training as in weights, but lots of squats, lunges, burpees, pushups, wall sits, dips ect….I’m definitely getting stronger.

I posted the links to the vids for SYTYCD on my facebook page just for you :)

  9. woooooohooo im so excited for you!!! I didnt do any speedwork for my first half and took a bathroom break during it and still finished in 2:17, i’m sure that you will rock it!

i ran this morning–6 miles, its been rough getting out of bed for some reason this week though, blah.

  10. I’m almost embarrased to say that I don’t know what my last run was.. although I’m hopefull that I’ll be able to try a run this weekend in my hometown!

I tried training for my first half last winter, but got injured early on.. BOO! $65 entry fee down the train. One day I will try again!

Definitely Jef. They seem to have more fun together! :)

p.s. gah! that photo from SYTYCD makes me so excited! we always PVR it so we can watch it the next day sans commercials… although I think it will be on the agenda for tomorrow since Big Brother starts tonight! ahh!

  11. I ran an 18k Daniels’ workout this morning! Tough but fun. I’m just training for the midsummer’s 30k race which will be the first time I’ve done that race, but not the first time at that distance.

    I don’t watch Bachelor.

  12. I have got to try these ZWOW’s! I need more strength training, and always love a good quick workout!
Your plan looks awesome! I can’t wait to hear how it all turns out!!!

  13. Wow, your abs look awesome! Is that because of ZWOW? I need to do that! Great job getting your half plan done. Last run was 9 miles today. First 3 sucked, middle 3 were great because I ran them with my friend, last 3 were good:)

  14. half marathon? psh, I can hardly run 5 miles!!!
May have another race coming up this weekend! There is one in my town and I may do it. Not sure yet. :)
Yay for a giveaway! Haha, I have been hooked on them since I won yours. ;)

  15. I like the sports bra, but it would never fit me. My last run was this afternoon. I will blog about it soon. There might even be a rant included. I’m building up a head of steam for that. The training is for a race at the end of the month that includes a half, but it’s not my first. Though it might feel that way when I’m done.

The problem with these dance shows is that they aren’t dancing. I’d be more impressed with a routine that the guy could lead the girl through, proper footwork and all. And Bachelorette? Je ne comprendes pas.

  16. Woo! Go you and your intense training plan! It looks pretty impressive and I really admire your positive attitude to the race :-) I’m sure you will make your goal!

Logan makes me laugh, I didn’t watch much TV when I was little and as a consequence, apparently whenever there was some kind of screen I became glued to it :-P

Add some awesome...
