“runner until the race is run”

These last two days have left me yearning for more love in my life. I want to give an honest effort to try and love my fellow peer more. I’m so negative and angry lots of the time when I’d rather open my heart and spread some love.

As mentioned briefly yesterday we simply adored Coldplay. The whole afternoon was amazing. Almost whimsical, if you will. We walked for over an hour around the city. It was beautiful and the wind was refreshing :)

*I told you there’d be a CN Tower picture ;)

We had a lovely dinner – probably one of the best ones ever! When you walk out of a sports bar after only ordering water (don’t worry I gave her 50c for her efforts) and your idea of the best possible place for a romantic dinner is a grocery store…..you are hearby known as a foodie!

I made my own “big salad” is was a whopping $13 but it was amazing. Colin had a steak sandwich and taters and I also got some fruit afterwards…….the only thing missing was wine.

* you know you’re awesome when the guy at the check out remarks on your amazing salad making skills and is floored when he discovers you’ve managed to snag some avocado in there too ;P

Thankfully Toronto has amazing underground grocery stores with WINE BARS in them (!!) I was so excited. We had some amazing Ontario wines and the best part was it was beside the ACC where our concert chariot awaited :)

* we were really just talking about how this underground bar should have its own reality tv series. It was drama! lol

Afterwards, our hearts, souls and true selves were revealed courtesy of Chris Martin and his amazing front man capabilities to not only connect to everyone in the room, but go beyond and connect us all together as well ;)

* groupies! – I told Colin this was the closest I have ever sat at a seated concert…..without having to sleep with anyone ;) har har! ….it was then I realized that I had, as Colin bought me the tickets. Darn, once a groupie, always a groupie.

We headed home to make our lunches for Wonderland the next day. Yep, I know you pack lunches too ;) We can’t afford 6$ waters and 12$ pizza.

Canada’s wonderland was an epic fail. <—- only in the ride to $ aspect. We didn’t get there at gate open and paid for it. We were there for 4hrs and we rode 5 rides – we paid $40/each – that’s 8$ each/per ride!!!! 2 rides we went on were worth it but seriously waiting for over an hour just to spend less than a minute getting an adrenaline rush is crazy.

But we couldn’t NOT ride the Leviathan!!!! <—- links to the vid Colin took – go watch it from our eyes live!!!!

it was amazing :)

Ali Mc’s roller coaster line up tips:

This was our view from the line – however we had these chill kids in front of us that cut the line when everyone was lost in texting world. (you know the ones I speak of) we decided to relive our youth and did the same. Yes, you can hate me, I budded in line. However, if you can bud in front of people and have them chat with you the whole line, end up sharing your water with the child in front of you because he’s dying of dehydration AND ride with those individuals and have them leaving saying “have a nice day” <—– you have budded correctly. The only time you can cut in front of someone is if they don’t notice! then there’s no anger ;) That’s my asshole tip that puts spread the love to shame.

The coolest part was when the punk kids noticed we had got behind them in line and gave Colin the approving nod ;) <— when you’re turning/over 30 these are the kind of highlights you’ll live for.

Overall our experience was rushed and not too much fun. Excluding when we bought stuffed dogs you could “walk” – they’re for the kids I swear!

Lesson learn. Never go to an amusement park unless you a) arrive BEFORE the park opens and b) you can stay until the park closes.

Colin and I are big money savers so we tend to get anxious when we don’t use money efficiently – and that was definitely yesterday. Oh well, such is life.

Questions:

1. do you like roller coasters???

I used to live for them but I think I’m getting old :( I hated waiting in line for so long….but who does?

2. have you ever eaten at a grocery store…..and preferred it ;) ??

I used to get lunch at fortinos and it was great – what’s better than fresh ingredients right there in front of you?

3. are you money conscious? do you get worried about it when you spend a large portion??

I used to spend frivolously now Colin has changed me forever and I think I might drive myself insane ;)

4. have you ever cut in line?? would you??

I don’t know that I have before. I don’t recall it. I do recall being on the other side and freaking out. Hence why my tip was to do it when the people are oblivious. I’m not saying it’s right to do this but I did it….so.

  1. I loooove rollercoasters! We don’t have many close to were I live, when I go some place with rollercoasters I try to ride as many as I can. Lines suck tough :(

I remember cutting in line for a Guns n’ Roses concert. I still feel guilty about it. But the line was like a mile long!

I love you blog, I think this is my first comment but I’ve been reading for a while now :)

    • Hey Alicia :) – love the name, I sometimes wish I was called that instead of Alison…but I go by Ali anyway so I guess it doesn’t matter lol

and thanks for commenting! I love finding out more about others that have similar interests :D

and I should feel guilty about cutting in line but I don’t. I only feel bad about setting a poor example :( so I guess that is guilt. lol G&R! what an awesome experience that must’ve been!

  2. Ali! Go to wonderland in June! We go every year and my kids get on every ride that they want before noon! There are NO lineups esp. if you go in the first week. This year we went in May and it was even better! We go in the summer too bc I buy them seasons passes but its never as good as that June experience!

I would never in a million years bud. Budders piss me off. :P

I try to watch our money. It’s always a better feeling to have some leftover. ;)

    • I hate budders too – so I will regretfully accept the title: HYPOCRITE :) I’m an ass.

and you know what, this was the only time we had to go but you’re right Sam – I bet that IS why it sucked; the time of year. So maybe we will try to go again in late August. I think I had a great time there once in Sept. Next year I’ll go in June :D we can go together ;)

    • I know right!!! wine bars in grocery stores should be mandatory! I hate grocery shopping more than anything else, but if there’s wine I would gladly volunteer!

  3. I could never bud…I would be waaay too embarrassed if some one called me out for doing it and then have to walk “the shame walk” back to the end of the line.

I like smaller roller coasters ….the ones that don’t go upside down or too high with a big drop…I get car sick too so I have one of THOSE stomachs. ;-(

Now…money…ugh…I try to go cheap waaaay too often and hubs is the spender and then I some times get an inner pissed passion that he can be OK with spending where it really gets my nerves in a bundle when I do it. Crazy how people can be different but I am trying to get better…….

    • well I’m sure some people noticed. however it appeared the ones behind us didn’t – people were outrageous! I’d estimate 40% were so immersed in their cell phones they probably got budded in front of all day!

  4. I love some roller coasters but Matt wont ride them so I have been roller coaster free for 7 years. I miss them terribly. But on the flip side, here in Georgia we really only have Six Flags and it is the same type experience you had. You over pay for the park and spend the whole day baking in the sun while standing in line.

  5. Is that a grocery store that allows you to build your own salad?? where?????
I Am notorious for salads. Lol i build my own at Montanas, they “know” me.

Sorry about the disappointment at CW! :(

  6. I still can’t get past the idea of you being negative and angry -I just don’t see it!

I’m not a roller coaster fan, I blame TV. (Long story). I am even less of a waiting-in-long-lines fan!

    Glad y’all had fun together!

    • I was with my mom when I read this on my phone and when I told her you said you couldn’t believe I was angry and negative she laughed aloud ;) ….so did Colin. So I guess this means I’m an angry bitch ;( lol

  7. Looks SO FUN!!!!! I have never been on a roller coaster!!! My mom is deathly afraid of them. I think they look fun though!!!
I don’t think I have ever cut. If I have to stand in line for too long I just leave. I am not that patient. :P
You look great in your dress!

    • We need to go! you must one day :)

and thanks so much! I felt like it was a GREAT outfit choice. I felt sexy but comfortable, which are my favourite kind of outfits ;) lol

  8. Aw this post made me smile because you sound so positive and happy :-) It looks like you’ve had an absolutely fantastic time! I haven’t been to a concert or a theme park in an incredibly long time so I’m a little jealous :-P

You look brilliant in both of your outfits, they’re really cute. Love that you two were rebels and got acknowledged by the punk kids – hilarious!

Tom and I try to be careful with money as we both want to save but sometimes I can’t help myself with little treats and we also like to occasionally go out for a date together where we’ll spend a little money.

  9. Loks like you had a great time – too bad you didn’t get to go on more rides! I hate waiting in line. When we took the kids to Disney World all we did was wait in line all day long for hours!

I love salads from the grocery store!

  10. So happy you guys had a stellar time!! I hate that you didn’t get to ride more than you did. That was how it was for us the last time we went to Disney. I went during the summer which was madness. I refuse to go back during peak season for that very reason :)

  11. You really are the dog whisperer aren’t you. Two dogs, totally under control. I bow to your superior dog wrangling skills.

I love your supermarket salad bars.Honestly, sometimes I feel like I live in a third world country when I see what other people have available to them. The choice you have is amazing.

    • HAHAHA!!!! those pups didn’t know what hit them ;)

…..even more so when I brought them back to Logan. lol

and that sucks. To be honest I don’t have anything like that in my home town. Toronto is one of the largest cities in all of Canada so they’d have much cooler stuff than we do ;)

You should suggest your supermarket build a salad/wine bar :)

  13. Looks like you had a great time, minus waiting in line for so long. I love roller coasters but we haven’t been to an amusement park in a long time. When we were driving in Illinois we saw a Six Flags and really wanted to go!

We occasionally will get subs from our grocery store for dinner, but we will bring them home.
