1 Year Blogging: let’s have a look

Yep, it’s true. I kind of forgot to write up a post about my one year into blogging……what a year it’s been. I’ve decided to do an awesome link up post leading you to some of the best memories <—- just in case you missed them and/or want to revisit them :D  

So here we go…..

MY FIRST POST!!!! “I’m back and bloggin’”

  • Yep, it’s true. I had blogged before, back in 2008. I guess I forgot how much of my life was stolen from blogging and how many pictures I needed to take of everything and decided to jump into it again :) Gotta love my whole cotton outfit, treadmill in the basement and chubby Rex begging to jump on :)

Then there was THE GREATEST DAY EVER!!!

  • Colin came home from work with my favourite sugary treat of all time: The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard! Even this new found clean eating won’t be able to stop me from consuming mass amounts of these all October.
MY FIRST EVER RACE RECAP: Scotiabank Waterfront 5k Race!
  • By far my best experience of the whole year (or one of the best anyway). I trained really hard for my first ever race and I ended up surpassing all my goals and rocking out a sub 27min 5k :) *I highly recommend reading the recap 

Then, Just when you thought my blog had reached it’s peak of awesomeness….

COLIN SURPRISED US WITH A RECIPE!!

  •  You new readers don’t even need to tell me – I know we need more Colin back on the blog. He just hasn’t been feeling like this lately :) So go read his recipe and check out his funny photos lol

MY FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR: CHRISTMAS!

  • The above links to my family’s Christmas in a nice photo scroll post :) Logan didn’t know what was going on because this was the first year he could actually get right into Christmas :)
We rang in 20.12 with THE NEW BLOG!

  • We kissed the old blogger blog Goodbye and became self-hosted and took January by the horns. Some of my best post, most responsive entries and recipes were posted in January and the months that followed. THANK YOU :)

February was a GREAT month: I can’t limit it to one post. However I can definitely give you one photo that sums up it’s awesomness: VALENTINES DAY MOM!

  •  Ya, the Valentines Day post had this precious gem in it :) My mom and her good friend Karen now know never to send me incriminating photos as jokes again :)
  • Other things that happened that month: I got bangs, I got injured and I ran for Sherry.

Then, I HOSTED MY FIRST (annual) VIRTUAL RACE!!!

  • This race went amazingly well and I hope to do it again this year with even more fun! Check out the My Fellow Spatula Runners! page for all the photo submissions :)

AND….we RACED AROUND THE BAY ….while running with spatulas!!!!

I WAS STILL INJURED! 

I GOT A DIAGNOSIS!!!! 

  • After months of waiting and tests I finally knew what was wrong and could begin my road to recovery. I actually still struggle with pain in my hip and groin and have to adjust my pace accordingly.

I RAN A RACE WITH REX :)  

  • Rex loved racing and we PR’d! I have never been more proud of him and I can’t wait to go on more runs with him. I’m really trying to encourage Colin to run with him since they’re athletic ability is similar.

SPREAD THE LOVE WAS BORN :)

and I began Making A LOT of CHANGES

Now, a year later and I can’t even BELIEVE the difference. I used to be obsessed with running, now I love only running 3 times weekly. I love my new found positivity and love for myself and others. I am loving my diet changes and hope to keep going :)

Even Logan has changed and now loves some things green – like Kale chips :) I can’t wait to see what this year has in store :) Without spoiling anything – just be ready for some BIG changes here on RwS :)

  1. A whole year already??? Wow, time really flies!
    I forgot about the pumpkin pie blizzards! I had at least 5 last October. :) It will probably be the same this year. :)
    I don’t think that I can pick a favorite post! I love them all!

  4. Awesome recap! A lot of your pictures made me smile! I love Blizzards but I became lactose intolerant last year so I can’t have them anymore. I get wicked tummy cramps. Enjoy one for me please. Do you make your own Kale chips? I’ve thought about it but haven’t actually done it yet.

    • Sam, that sucks that you can never try a pumpkin pie blizzard…..they’re so yummy I’ll have to look into a lactose free one for you :)

      I make kale chips tri-weekly ;) they are my go to snack at night.

    • Agreed! this blog needs more running…..but unfortunately I am thinking there’ll be less ;P gotta roll with the changes ;) lol

  9. Congrats on the year! I’ve technically had my blog since 2005, but it was solely a travel blog for the first year. Once I came back to the States, it literally sat there unattended for years until last year when I started writing again :)

    And holy cow! Rex has totally lost weight compared to that first pic!

  14. Congratulations on one year! Very exciting! I have been blogging for almost one year on this blog, but over a year total since Mike and I had a lighthouse blog for a little while.

    I’m down for running the relay with you again! Just let me know :) And I want to come get some pumpkin pie blizzards with you guys, we should definitely make a trip in the fall.

    • Lindy, I will not even be able to tell you much as I found it complicated, annoying and a hassle. I think that unless you don’t enjoy blogger than you just buy your own domain name through them. It’s cheaper and easier.

      Otherwise you can go look for self-hosted domains that can host your website and do some research. My stomach turned reading this question. It’s a learning curve for sure, not one I’m prepared to go through again.

      However if you do self-host I can send you this amazing link to a page I send to others looking to switch over.

  20. Congrats on your one year bloggyversary. Your autocorrect tried to change that to booger verse, which I almost left that way.

    I’ve been blogging almost 6 years now, just racking up post 1234. My fave is http://keithsodyssey.blogspot.ca/2011/09/1000.html and it has lots of links to other fun posts.

    Highlights from this year. Finishing a job I was tired of. Getting another. Having the bike training go really well on the trainer.

  21. Yay for a year of blogging!! And its grown so much!

    I have been blogging for 4 years, but Im in a place where there isnt much going on that is actually interesting, so its laaaammeee. But cant say I dont love it because I have “met” so many awesome people doing this!
