Hanging out with my Fam & needles

yesterday I went to my moms because she needed help with her computer (a task that never got completed) and I had a Dr’s appt and didn’t want to have to bring Logan ;)

I haven’t been eating very well lately but who could turn down a grilled cheese sandwich that mom made???

apparently I can’t ;) I was sharing with Logan, but let’s be honest – we all know I ate more than one sandwich and skipped salad in order to make room :)

Then I was off to the Doc’s to request some blood work to be done. When I got there I remembered that my Dr told me there was a door outside that went directly to the stairs to bypass the elevator traffic. So because I knew I’d be missing my workout I ran up the stairs and gave my attempt at burning some calories ;)

* I’m one of those people: the ones that park faraway and enjoy walking longer, the ones who don’t get a cart at the grocery store to test their arm strength ;) lol

The Doc told me I was, and I quote, “The epitome of health“- I title I plan on using as a subtitle to my introduction hence forth :) If I’d like to be called anything, healthy looking is definitely one of them :)

He asked me if I could be over-training. I laughed so hard :) I was like, “Who? me??” I told him he needed to start reading health and fitness blogs or follow my workouts on dailymile, as he would soon see I’m more of a slacker than anything else. Perhaps my exhaustion is due to pure laziness….who knows :)

After getting sent for a urine and blood sample….which went surprisingly well considering my phobia of blood and needles. God help me if I’m ever badly injured, as I just won’t be able to face the amount of needles!

* I know you love seeing my pee cup ;) don’t lie.

I know I’m not anemic because I’m the epitome of health remember?? so I wonder what’s going on. Why am I so tired all the time? My mom thinks its because I’m a mother. I think she could be right.

Anyway back at my moms we ate dinner – pizza: another score in the clean eating game ;P oops. Once Logan went to bed (we only have one car now remember, so Colin went to jam and we stayed at my moms) we went through old family photos.

There were so many good ones that I wanted to show you but I have to scan them. I did however take a picture of this little gem on my phone for you all……

  • Halloween costume dress – $20
  • Angel wings and accessories – $15
  • Your mom forcing you to wear your winter coat underneath it – PRICELESS.

What was with parents. I always tell Logan to suck it up in the name of Halloween. His cutie cowboy costume from last year would’ve look ridiculous with a coat over or under it ;)

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend :) I miss you guys xoxo

Questions:

1. do you have any deficiencies??

I almost wish I was iron deficient so I could take iron pills and have normal energy. Who knows….maybe I have a parasite.

2. are you afraid of needles or are you one of those crazy people that love them??

3. did you have to wear your coat under or over your costume?? - please note how I never asked if you had to wear a coat, as we all know you did ;) lol

  1. I remember when I was really little I would have the coolest costume ever and my mom would make me wear a coat under it. I hated it!
I am cracking up at that picture!
I hate needles. I want to get my ears pierced but I am so scared to because I hate needles! Everyone says it doesn’t hurt but I am still scared. :P

    • Me too…..I loathe the coat :P lol

I wouldn’t worry about the ear piercings I have had a lot of piercings and they weren’t bad and I faint at having blood work done. So yes, they will hurt a bit but you’ll be fine :)

Oh and I think being scared is normal ;)

  2. Sorry you are feeling so worn out. If it’s any help, I think it is a mom/athlete syndrome! I was just lamenting to my husband a week or so ago that “there must be something wrong w/ me!” because I was so tired. I am anemic, but have been supplementing for about a month, so hopefully that’s on its way out!

    • lol it probably is mom/athlete ;) I’ll be interested to hear if you do begin to notice some changes with the iron supplements…..apparently anemia in long distance runners is very common. I hope it works for you :)

  3. I make my kids wear sweaters under their costumes if its cold out for Halloween! They hate me for it but oh well. Haha. Mmmmm grilled cheese sandwiches! Now I know what I’m having for lunch!

    • LOL sweaters is better than coats. My sister looked like a linebacker black cat in her photo ;P lol

I was so excited to read about MSN 30k on your dailymile. You rocked it :)

  4. I hope your doc is able to shed some light on why you’re tired all the time. I can’t remember the last time I felt rested. It seems no matter how much sleep I get, I’m always exhausted. Right now, I blame pregnancy for my lacking energy. Later, I will have a newborn to blame for the exhaustion. Always an excuse. ;) But seriously, I’ve wondered (before this pregnancy) if there was some underlying issue going on. I have been anemic a few times in the past but my blood work was fine a few weeks ago so it’s not that this time.

I’m one of the weirdos who has zero problems with needles. The only needle that ever scared me was the epidural needle they passed around during an epidural class when I was pregnant with my oldest. Reaffirmed my choice in going natural. ;)

I recall wearing winter coats or layers under Halloween costumes. Some years, your costume was more than enough. Other times, it would snow. Hooray for unpredictable Ontario weather. :p

    • I remember being SOOOOOOOOOOOO tired during pregnancy. I can’t imagine being a mom AND having to be pregnant. But I think that may be in my future ;) although not for a while :P

That;s amazing that you could go natural. I didn’t want the epidural either but the back labour and being induced just made me suck it up and get it. I think I’ll just get it right away next time :P lol

  5. Never ever pass up a grilled cheese sandwich! Ever. I hope you get answers to your lack of energy so you can deal with it. I go through those stages as well – and then I’m usually pounding the vitamins/coffee/anything in reach that promises energy! I’m a freak like that. And you are not a slacker.

    • LOL, I know eh? grilled cheese’s are the bomb ;)

I never even drank coffee until recently. For the last 6months I’ve been a fiend ;) and I know I’m not a slacker, but after reading everyone else’s crazy intense workouts I know I’m not over-training either ;)

    • I have never donated blood either. I always contemplate it but one time I had to have one of those “butterfly” needles that just keep pumping blood out of you and I fainted. I faint all the time from needles……I’m cringing right now just thinking about it. Maybe one day I will get the gull to do it :) right now, I think it’s fine that we are too scared to :)

  6. I hope it just turns out to be the mom thing! Although I can see how a deficiency would be easier to cure… :) That Halloween costume with the coat under is classic!

  7. Glad you got to indulge with your mom’s grilled cheese sandwiches! Soup and grilled cheese are so delicious and something we always look forward to in the colder months.

    • I hear you :) I made some chicken soup this weekend, as it’s really cooling off here already and I loved every second of eating it while curled up on the couch :)

  8. I think the heat, being a mom and working out contributes to being tired. I am anemic and was taking supplements but it was really making my periods heavy. I find extra spinach and other iron rich foods have helped. My Dr said I am only deficient not anemic now. Lol

Omg the worst about Canadian Hallowe’ens! ! Wearing your coat when you are trying to be all cool and Madonna! ! Lol

Not afraid of needles but I have to look the other way. :)

    • LOL yep Canadian Halloweens are classic ;) and I have found that now that I don’t watch the needles, I’m ok too :) I still have to tell the blood tech that I’m scared and to get my vein on the first try or get someone else ;P

I have been eating TONS of spinach….eating chia seeds. I’m doing everything to get my energy up…..must be a mom thing :P

    • awwww that sucks not being close to your mom. I felt like that too when I was away at school. I would always call home. Maybe too much ;) Hope you feel better xo

  9. Nice costume. I’ll bet you were the warmest angel out that Halloween. With my mum it was always about singlets and petticoats. We live in a sub-tropical climate for crying out loud and there are very few days that we actually need warm undergarments.

  10. Needles scare me a lot, especially the ones they use to extract blood… I have to look the other way.
But it’s good news the doctor said you’re the epitome of good health.

    • I agree…..I’d take getting shot with something over getting blood taken any day. Thanks for visiting :)

PS: got your email. I’ll respond when I’m back at home :D

  11. I hope you can get to the bottom of what is making you so tired but I think I’m with your mom….it’s being a mom! Ha! Seriously though I hope it works out! My Mom used to make me wear my underwear under my gymnastics leotard! It used to stick out the edges of the suit…so uncool!

    • LOL you and my mom are most likely right – being a mom is tiring as it is….and I only have one!!!

and I am totally going to ask my mom about my gymnastic leotard now :P

  12. hey hey :)
no deficiencies here. well I don’t sleep enough. does that count?
not afraid of needles. have many tattoos and piercings to show for that :p
can’t remember if I had to wear a coat underneath my halloween costume… I shall ask my mother next time we talk!
    xx

  13. Haha that last photo is PRICELESS! Your face says it all. I’m pretty sure my brother and I had to wear our winter coats a few times because it SNOWED on Halloween. Fun times.

I do not like needles, at all. Which is funny because I have so many piercings!

  14. Hope you figure out what’s going on. That’s awesome that your the epitome of health! I’d be throwing that one all over the place :)

I have low iron sometimes. I was just re-tested and its fine now, but I used to take iron supplements. My doc told me as long as I take a womens multi vitamin then I should be fine!

    • I take a women’s multi – I almost just went and bought iron pills until I found out that if I didn’t need it I could get iron poisoning :P not good.

I loved the saying too :P

  15. I still remember one Halloween where I was to be a witch and we had a blizzard, and we couldn’t go trick r treating..it was horrible!

Are you sure that L doesn’t want a sibling? ;)
