Rex’s new Ride & Waterfall Family Fun!

Monday was a long weekend in Canada. I don’t know if it was for everyone else? Anyway…we decided to do a family bike ride to the waterfall near our house. We were going to leave Rex behind but he really wanted to come along…I can never say no to him :)

We left and we were stopping every 5 mins in the shade to douse him with water and let him have a drink. I don’t know if that was overkill but I’m sure anyone with a nursing degree would approve I didn’t want him to feel hot :) We had to stop to fill up the air in our tires and Rex and I waited in the shade :)

* Colin was wearing his running outfit.

* I wore flip flops ;) lol

We made it to the falls, which is less than 4km (2.5miles) away from our house and locked up our bikes, which proved challenging with 2 bikes and the trailer and only one lock! lol

We walked across tons of jagged rocks to the water and Rex dove right in when we got there. Logan immediately tried to follow. It’s funny we never wanted him to be afraid of water but it might be easier if he was ;) as the ‘no fear’ attitude is very heart stopping sometimes ;)

Albion Falls is one of the many waterfalls located in the city I live in. <—- the waterfall capitol of the world!!! It’s crazy how many waterfalls we have. Maybe I’ll make it a goal to visit them all, as I bet I’ve only seen a quarter of them :)

* Yes I am wearing my Tommie Copper shorts ;) and I am also going commando since you and the Gourmet Runner all seem to love that ;P

Rex started kind of limping at the waterfall. We assumed he had cut his paw on a rock. I checked and nothing. Pressing and all that jazz, no yelps. However, we decided that there was no way he could run back home and asked Logan if he could share his bike trailer seat with Rex – he excitedly agreed and we pulled Rex safely home.

* Colin got cropped out – don’t you hate that you can’t see anything on your smart phone out in the sun?!!? they’ve gotta fix that!

Colin is taking him to the vet today just to make sure there’s nothing seriously wrong. I think he’s just getting old :( poor guy.

I can’t wait to ask the new vet I found all about running, as apparently this one is good for athletic dogs! …or more so owners ;) lol

Questions:

1. have you ever put a dog in a bike trailer or transported your pet in an interesting way??

2. do you like waterfalls??? when was the last time you were at one??

3. do you bike?? what kind of bike do you have??

I really want a road cycle, but I only have a mountain bike. I love it! It’s a Giant Boulder SE and it has adjustable front suspension – which I love!!!!  I think I’ll always keep it b/c my ex bought me that bike for graduation and then took it back – and sold it (!!) so I saved up money and bought the exact same bike when I could and it was my first “big” purchase so I like it b/c it represents my independence.

  1. Oh my gosh! Did Rex just sit there? My dogs would never do that!
Not one single waterfall here. :( That looks so awesome though! I saw Niagara Falls once on a hockey trip but that is the only water fall I have ever seen. :(
I love biking but there isn’t really anywhere to bike where I live. :( When we go down to Florida every year we rent bikes and bike around the island that we stay on.

    • Rex did sit there but I had to bike right beside him and yell “Hey!” and such if his eyes even decided to jump out. He leaped out once so we zipped all but his head in ;P hahaha

and we have so many waterfalls!!! they’re beautiful….you should come visit!

    • it is! lol mainly because he looks like a four year old but he is really 2!!!! ….with 2 year old skills ;P lol ie: one slip and he’d be in the deep pool below the falls.

  2. I love that Rex got to ride in style– he is as spoiled as Tals! :)

I have both a roadie and a mountain. My roadie is a Trek Pilot and my mountain is just an REI brand. I really want a new full suspension mtb but I need to get together a couple grand first!

  3. Rex looks adorable in his new ride, that’s cute that he actually stayed in there. I can see why you’d be a little concerned over the total ‘no fear’ attitude!

  4. I always see people with their dog in bike trailers in my neighborhood. There is even a woman that walks at 5am and pushes her dog in a stroller. Yeah, some weird people live in my area.

  5. I love all the pics:) I hope Rex is okay. Love waterfalls and try to hike to a few each summer. One time my pup got poked in the eye on a hike and I had to carry him in a makeshift sling using my sweatshirt. About 25 pounds of puppy:0 tried commando running for the first time last week. Kind of fun:)

  6. You can’t take cats anywhere they don’t want to go unless you force them into their pet carriers. HA.

We have Hilton Falls in Milton. We could totally meet up for a trail run! It is about 6k. I’ve hiked it with the kids, but never run it.

I do not own a bike. I need to get one though. We camp so much and it is a great way to get around a campground.

  7. That’s a beautiful waterfall! I love waterfalls. Hope Rex is ok-poor guy. I used to ride my bicycle with my sister’s dog (a rat terrier she used to have) standing on the middle bar and putting his paws on the bars.

  8. That’s the best goal ever! I’m jealous of the waterfalls! My dog would go nuts :) That pic of the pup in the bike carrier is too cute too. Looks like a great trip!
