I had such a great time with Logan on Friday! Our day together was so much fun. I guess I have never taken him to the mall without a stroller….. never even realized until we went into Sears and he was freaking out with excitement about the escalator

* escalators are like roller coasters to 2 year olds. We rode it quite a few times
Logan and I had such a great mom-son time - it was nice to have a car again during the day and actually take him shopping and treat him to timbits
….and myself! if you missed me eating a timbit better get on facebook
I worked both Friday night and Saturday all day. I have been coming down with something but fighting it off (knock on wood) for over a week. I’ve been trying to keep my eating super healthy to keep the germs away….even at work I come prepared…

* I don’t know if you can see…but those are peppers in my blazer pocket
lol
Sunday morning I woke up early to run my LSD run with Leah, however she had decided to do hers on Saturday – ruining my plans for an awesome trail run ;P (yes Leah, you are a bum) Anyway, we still got a solid run in, though it was half of what my goal for the day was it was just nice to see her
The scenery was nice too …

I am the kind of person that doesn’t like to run twice in one day – if I stop to stretch or change destinations, odds are I won’t run again. I went into ‘mom mode’ after our run as it was time to get Logan ready for Tyler’s birthday party.

* this photo doesn’t do it justice – but it was the biggest pizza I’ve ever seen!!!
Logan was so excited about going. It was a great party, but turning down a whole whack of awesome treats and not 1 but 2 cakes sucked

I did eat pizza….which I will assume has sugar in it – as I am finding that EVERYTHING man-made does!!!! even though I slipped up with the sugar strike I am loving how much I’m learning from it. I had no idea how much sugar I was consuming, nor how many things had sugar in them!
I’m going to post more about this tomorrow

Questions:
1. escalator or elevator??
ESCALATOR! I am like Logan – when he said “Try again Mom” I was all for it. We just went up and down for a while
lol
2. can you run/workout twice in one day – and I don’t mean consecutively I mean two different times??
Sometimes I can do it if they are back to back (with no stretching or cool down) and I can definitely do more than one workout – ie: switching between different things but I’d never do 2 bike rides or 2 runs – it drives me nuts!
3. are you aware of how much sugar you’re eating?? do you even care?
I am starting to care. Though I hate coming off like some health nut! I HATE IT! I don’t want to make people think they have to change what they’re eating. My boss and I had lunch together and mine was a turkey wrap on ww with a side of veggies and for dessert a bowl of plain greek yogurt with berries – hers was Arby’s and she kept saying weird things like “I feel bad” and such…..not at ALL how I want to be perceived. I’m just EXCITED about the fact that I’m actually enjoying these changes!!!
I love escalators! My mom walks up them…. whats the point of that! I always ride and then have to run around the store trying to find her.
I always wanted to run up a down escalator.
I really don’t think that I could pass up a piece of cake!
At summer hockey camp we had an hour and a half of off the ice workout and then an hour and a half of on ice workout. It was intense! I was so sore all summer!
I used to be like your mom….I think it may even be a mom thing – we’ve got lots going on
but I liked riding it as a child, teenager…who knows maybe even a young adult ;P lol
and HOLY hockey workouts! you are going to kick some butt out there on the ice this season!
it is crazy the things that have sugar in it and it is always hard to find those without the artificial stuff too.
I hear you girl friend (I really just wanted to say that ;P) I feel like a maniac checking the labels on EVERYTHING! yesterday it took me over 20mins to select a green tea – A TEA!!!! omg.
Oh pizza, I want some
. Good job not having the cake though on your no sugar month! I decided with this cleanse I’m doing that I’m not going to interrupt my entire social life and be a hermit the whole time so if I have to cheat a tad (but still sticking to the healthiest option) then so be it!
And YES everything processed/manmade has sugar in it…I’m learning that too!
See I can’t wait till this month is over and I can indulge guilt free (as I did already eat sugar….a few times. Most by accident from not reading labels) but yes, it’ll be nice to eat clean but eat sugar sometimes. If it wasn’t this strike sugar month I totally would’ve had some cake
good job on your eating Lauren – your meals have been looking so tasty!
It is hard when you want to eat healthy and others your eating with don’t, they always seem to have to make comments about it! I think they are probably just doing it to make themselves feel better they aren’t eating as healthy, but it always makes me feel weird like I’m some crazy health nut when really I just like the way I feel after eating a healthy meal rather than fries and a burger…although I will indulge in some fries now and then! Who can resist?! ha
I totally agree! this is new for me. When I ate a poutine and someone beside me ate a salad I never commented on how awesome they were – if anything my orgasmic sounds probably made them want to eat a poutine
lol
However, I have felt the need to justify my actions around others that I’d like to be more like….so you’re probably right – they are saying it for themselves, and thus, I won’t let it bother me
thanks for those snack options!
I’m so impressed with your sugar changes, you’re really staying strong! Yes- isn’t it crazy that even bread, salad dressings, condiments, everything it seems all has added sugar?? That is an adorable escalator picture!
I did eat a timbit, ketchup and pizza but for me that’s AMAZING! so I’m not going to get upset. I just ate your chocolate/banana pudding – good call. It was just what I needed. I seriously doubt the other non-sugar eaters are making as many dessert alternatives as I but oh well
lol
Escalators for sure…especially when I run up them and feel that much more faster than normal!
I have never went for two runs in a day so I don’t know, maybe I should try it out someday and see how it goes…wonder if there any benefits to it? hmm i digress…
I am horrible for knowing exactly how much sugar I am eating and stressing about it…I either have to let go of it or embrace it…havent decided yet?
Ed! you’re a genius!!!!! from now on my hill repeats will be done in the mall
lol
and I haven’t decided about sugar yet either. I do notice a difference though – I mean, now that I’m eating better I can tell my body prefers it but I doubt I’ll ever completely give it up – I mean c’mon! I make awesome cupcakes!!!
Well I caved on the sugar this week. I was at my g-parents 60th wedding anniversary party and I had some sweets. And I brought some home ofcourse. I just couldn’t resist.
Sarah I didn’t know you were also trying not to eat sugar – I think eating at a 60th anniversary is MORE than ok
Keep up the good work on rejecting sugar. So much has it these days.
I like the escalator…smaller chances of awkward moments
LOL
so true!
I hope Logan keeps enjoying those escalators for a long while yet. It’s so much cheaper to take him to the mall than to a theme park.
agreed. Hence why I let him ride it a few times
why not! That’s actually the one thing I love about kids – they love everything
I like the escalator too
I’m glad Logan had a great time at the mall and at the party!
Mike and I have worked out twice in one day, sometimes back to back with brick workouts but also doubles in preparation for our relay.
I do care how much sugar I am consuming, but I am too lazy to try to actually figure out how much that is, haha.
Mike and you have probably worked out 4 times in a day
you two are so hardcore!!!! lol and I don’t keep track either but right now I’m looking at everything
Whenever I try to steer away from desserts, I am always surprised how great other sweet things start tasting. Like a Mojo bar. Still pretty sugary, but it doesn’t taste like a dessert to me when I’m eating desserts. When I’m not eating them, it’s like a bowl of ice cream. It’s like our taste buds evolve.
I’m counting calories right now using myfitnesspal. And everyday my sugars are higher than they’re supposed to be. It’s all from fruits and veggies though, so I don’t worry about it. I do worry because my fats are also under what they should be every day. I can’t figure out how to get them up. I mean, chocolate cake is the obvious way, but than my calories would be way over as well. What’s a girl to do?
Aw Logan is such a cutie, I’d definitely rather take the escalator than the elevator, I’m not a fan of small enclosed spaces. Having said that the super long down escalators in the London underground stations terrify me, I feel like I’m about to fall when I ride those!
Well done on refusing all of that cake, I can imagine it was super difficult! I’m having a week off all added sugar which basically means the only sweet things I can have are fruit, milk and whole grain bread/cereal. I want to do it to help combat the sluggish way I feel at the moment (although that’s more to do with the fatigue disorder) but I’m already planning to reward myself with my first jar of nutella in months at the end of the week
I’m the same, I can’t do two proper cardio workouts in the same day, I could never go to the gym twice it would drive me nuts! I sometimes do a cardio and then a strength workout in the same day though
