I missed my workout this morning….I know
I got up, felt like crap but said – you’re doing speedwork girl! Get ready! As I was putting my shorts on Logan came into the room crying. He was scared and told me he didn’t want me to leave him.
How could I say no to that?

He asked if he could sleep with me in “dad’s bed” <—- because apparently it’s not mine ;P and so I slept in until 8am! which felt so foreign to me now. We both aren’t feeling the greatest so I think it was the better decision. I actually feel worse, if you can believe it.

I seriously believe in the healing powers of stuffed puppies….. you haven’t lived to you’ve slept with them as an adult!

* a fun fact – both of these stuffies were mine. Of course they turned out to be Lo’s favourites…..he loved the one so much that he bite his nose off
Anyway, I’m not very interesting today – I did have a whole post written about my running and whatnot but I felt angry editing it and finalizing it when I didn’t get to run this morning so maybe tomorrow you can read it
I also want to share with you guys about the striking sugar challenge and how crappy I’ve been doing
It’s really opened my eyes to a lot of things, to say the least.
——————————————————————————–
Since I am not feeling well and bored I love reading your comments while in bed so…….
Please tell me one (or all) of the following:
a) how you found my blog.
b) do you workout when sick?? why or why not??
c) why do you blog? (if you do) and/or why do you read blogs? (if you do)
I do not work out if I am feeling like crap. Sounds like you made the best decision to sleep in and cuddle with your boy, and stuffed puppies!! When you are sick, your body needs rest and fluids above all else. Hope you feel better soon, Ali!!
Thanks Catrina
I usually don’t work out when I’m sick, never have. However, I think due to my healthier eating and supplements this sickness has never really fully taken me over – so I just keep plugging alone. I actually feel loads better already, just super exhausted. I find the scariest thing about running while sick is the joints being so weak! I get freaked out I’ll wreck something
I skipped my run yesterday (and workout) due to allergy/sinus issues. I feel like crap! I can’t remember when/how I started reading you blog. I am sure I found it through a link on another blog. That is usally how I find most blogs I read. As you know I do blog, but always just for the fun of it. I love to have an outlet, connect with others, and just have something that is all me…..little conceited maybe??
I think everyone who blogs is conceited
so don’t worry, you’re not alone. I like keeping track of myself on the internet I think it’s fun ;P
and that’s ok that we both missed workouts! we’ll do them full force tomorrow!
hi! I ran this morning but felt soo low energy and the run did not help-think i should have skipped it. some times you just need to rest.
i can’t remember how i found your blog now.
i blog-well it started for friends and family while i travelled-but actually, although my parents are my biggest fans-everyone else that follows it are strangers
HI ROBYN!
I feel much better now…..but the issue is that now my day is half over and I have so many things I need to get done before heading off to work…..hence why my morning workouts were rocking!!!
Sorry you’re feeling yucky:( I found your blog on another blog who was doing your spatula virtual race:) I do not workout when I ‘m sick. I blog to help motivate others (and myself) to be active and healthy. Hope you feel better soon. I think the stuffed puppies will help for sure!
Ah, yes that Spatula Runner race! I hope to host that again this year
Although I’ll have to get some more sponsors again! lol
Interestingly enough, I found your blog via another blogger who was all wound up about you putting up a donation thing. Not sure why she cared but I was curious enough to come by and check out what all the fuss was about.
I will skip workouts if I am sick, but sometimes I’ll go anyway and end up feeling much better afterward.
I read blogs because I enjoy hearing about other’s lives and their ups and downs. I blog myself to motivate myself to do what I have set out to do and also to keep a diary of sorts of my life. It’s fun to look back and see what I was thinking or worried about that day.
Glad I gained a new connection through that negative crap
Some people just like to bitch about things. I try not to be one of them….except to Colin
who’s poor ears have had a lot to take on. lol
I just went to visit your blog and you are one fast cookie!!! my pace is slower now too but don’t worry once you get that heel sorted out all will be back to normal
Thanks for visiting!!!
So sorry that you guys are sick.
Get better soon!
No, I don’t workout when I am sick. I can never bring myself to when I am feeling so crappy.
How did I find you? Oh gosh I have nooo clue! I really can’t remember!
Ali, I saw something that deeply disturbed me on facebook. It was a picture of some EATING A PUMPKIN PIE BLIZZARD. How did they get them so early! I have been craving one recently!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! you’d better track them down and find out how this was possible! I am not even kidding you I made my own version a few days ago and it was awesome (I used greek yogurt but you could use vanilla ice cream) I mixed that with a scoop of pumpkin puree (not pie filling) and added stevia (but you should add sugar) then I had some of those vanilla waffer cookies and crumbled them in – mixed and added cinnamon and nutmeg! YUM!!!!
I asked them but no response so far. I DEFINITELY want to try that! Sounds so yummy!!!!!
I found your blog through another blog I read, but ended up only following yours inthe end! Whoops. I blog because it keeps me grounded sometimes – also for inspiration from others bloggers. it has helped me adjust in a new setting after graduating for sure. hang in there, one skipped workout is fine!
awwww thanks Alex
you’re too kind. lol I agree, it’s very inspiring and motivating to be part of such an awesome community
Sorry you’re not feeling well
I do like today’s questions though!
1. You commented on my blog, so I came to visit (How did you find me?)
2. I have worked out when sick, but there have been times when I think I overtrained, got myself sick, worked out through it, and of course got waaay sicker. So taking a day off seems like a good idea!
3. I blog for the validation of course! Plus, I do love drawing and entertaining others. If they tell me I made them laugh, my day is made. I read others’ blogs to get information, inspiration, and of course entertainment. I’ve made friends through blogging and reading their posts keeps me connected with them
I am not positive but I am sure I found you through MegO
it just seems to make sense, as I found hers and Colorado Girl at the same time and I think I clicked to check you out from her comments. I loved the drawings, so I’ve always creeped
lol
or crept rather ;P
I second your last comment – I bask in validation and ask for it regularly – if you don’t ask how will people know to give it
I found your blog one dreary day in Alaska while checking out other blogs…in fact I don’t remember how it happened exactly all I remember is finding out you were from Ontario, so I made a note to follow your blog now and again!
I have tried working out when I was sick with the theory that I would feel better…I always end up thinking that was silly and diving back into bed!
I blog to express my creative side. I grew up wanting to be a writer, with a sense of not feeling good enough. High school and college really drove that point home to me. So when I discovered a way I could have my own public forum to write on, I started considering it. After about a year of reading blogs and discovering that everyone is so positive…I decided to dive in!
Funny that you ask if I run when sick. Just yesterday I had an early morning run planned and I woke up feeling pretty ordinary. My stomach was feeling weird. But I got ready and started my run anyway. I hadn’t got more than about 500m when the banana and beetroot juice that I’d had decided to make a re-entrance. It looked like I’d had a major haemorrhage with chunky bits. But afterwards I felt so much better so I finished the run – all 10k. How hard core is that?!!
Feel better Ali! The photos (and the stuffed puppies) are adorable.
Oh and I didn’t answer any of your questions
I do run while sick in fact I have been sick the last few days and I ran yesterday and today (now I’m 99% though).
I think you found my blog and then I started reading yours, glad we found each other!
I don’t remember how I found you, but I am so happy I did.
I don’t know how I found your blog! Somehow it happened! I hope you feel better soon!
Sorry you’re so miserable. Being sick is never fun.
I honestly don’t remember how I found your blog but I’m glad I did.
It’s so awesome to see many women running until they deliver but it also leaves me discouraged and wondering what’s wrong with me since I can hardly walk a mile pain-free. I won’t be pregnant forever… I won’t be pregnant forever…
When I’m not sidelined, I usually workout when I’m sick as long as it’s not in my chest. If I’m feeling particularly like death, I don’t do a thing unless I have to because I figured rest is what my body needs most in that instance.
I debated whether I really wanted to start yet another running blog or not but I ultimately decided to do so. The running community is awesome and I love having a *very small* part in it. It’s helped me chronicle my journey thus far and will be something I can look back on and see my progress through the years. If I happen to reach/help just one person during my blogging career that is enough for me.
I like to read blogs to learn from others. I have been a part of the running community for a little over a year now and I know I still have no much to learn. It’s also fun to find people I have a lot in common with, it makes me feel even more connected to them and show me just what my body may be capable of in the future with hard work & dedication. I won’t lie, pregnancy specific running blogs have been both a blessing and a curse lately.
