The BEST RUN EVER, A Wedding & Terry Fox Run 2012!

All my weekends seem so crazy that it really sucks that I don’t post on them anymore ;P Monday’s posts are therefore forced into condensed versions of all things epic and amazing (although, at least I spare you the essay’s) So get ready for collages! lol

———————————————

For those of you not on my facebook page or on my dailymileI had, what I believe to be the best.run.EVER. on Saturday morning. I chose to do my long distance run that day before getting ready for the wedding so I could “race” Terry Fox the next day with Dianna :)

Anyway, this 9 mile run ended up being 11 miles, as to avoid running up those 500 steep steps I decided to run up the mountain access – bad idea that was one long steep steep hill! lol

* I am the worst proof reader ever. FACT.

Overall this run was awesome! I think this may have been my first true experience with “runner’s high as I was seriously elated! This is what I looked like at mile 10….

* I seriously need to invest in a pair of running/sports sun glasses – any companies want to send me something πŸ˜‰ ??Β

———————————————————————————————-

Then it was time to get ready for my cousins wedding! I had to stretch, foam roll, get showered, do my hair – I don’t wear makeup anymore (except eye makeup) so that was easy and fastER than usual :) I even tested out my shoes to make sure they fit with my added adjustments….

* don’t lie running gear and heels is hotΒ

To save time I got into my wedding outfit in the golf club parking lot πŸ˜‰ ….I’m classy like that

* please note that I’m in the same sunglasses πŸ˜‰Β

The wedding was super fun – we got placed at the “cool people table” which normally happens, I’m so used to being popular (lol) and we really enjoyed it :) Don’t worry – another collage for you to save time!

My entire outfit (shoes included) costΒ me Colin $35 :) I have fallen in love with thrifting for both it’s frugal and environmentally sustainable reasons :) PS: the shoes were a size too big and I will tell you – NEVER again will I buy shoes that fit – bigger shoes are the most comfortable things EVER! and it’s nothing Dr. Scholls can’t fix πŸ˜‰Β

CONGRATS BRENT AND JACLYN we are so happy for you both :)Β

———————————————————————————————

Logan got sick Thursday and the poor little dude was so sick. I was actually super scared for him.

Since he was sick my mom offered to take him over night for both the Saturday night wedding and the Sunday morning Terry Fox Run. Thank you mom :)

Don’t worry he is 100% better now :)

—————————————–

So Sunday we woke up – and after an 11 miler, drinking, eating tons of sugar (oops) and partying that was tough πŸ˜‰ and Colin and I got into our running gear and headed down to Gage Park to meet Diana and her son Adrian for the Terry Fox Run!

It was so nice to be able to meet Diana and her son. They were so nice :) They even brought gifts for Logan!!!! I always feel so blessed at all the great people in our lives.

We started off running with Diana and Adrian took off like a jack rabbit and eventually got tired, we (Colin and I) decided to start picking up the pace to see if he could even do the whole 5k.

Running with my husband was the GREATEST.THING.EVER! I loved every second of it. Where I have physical stamina, Colin has will power ie: he’s stubborn. We kept each other going and finished in 27 mins!Β

I don’t think we have many “Sons fans” but I met this guy and couldn’t knock his resemblance to a thin Bobby so I asked for a photo πŸ˜‰ His daughter and wife ran the 10k and raised over $1000!!!!Β

Overall it was a great day! I really enjoy the opportunity to met anyone from the “online world” it’s nice to be able to develop these relationships and meet people in real life from this awesome community :) THANKS FOR COMING DIANA!!!!Β

Questions:

1. did you even get through this whole post???Β

I probably wouldn’t have….hence why I post short posts πŸ˜‰Β

2. Did you race/run this weekend??? tell me about it :)Β

3. Any one getting married??? going to a wedding soon??Β

  1. How did you run with your hair down?!?! You must have some sort of magical “don’t get bothered by hair on my neck” kind of powers because I get all anxious just thinking about it…

Congrats on some great runs this weekend! If you’re looking for some affordable sports sunglasses, Ryders are a good option. They make some good styles, they’re Canadian, and they are MUCH cheaper than many of the alternatives.

    • I don’t know! That was the first time I’ve ever run with my hair down….but I couldn’t ruin “after wedding hair” :) it was just too nice for a pony tail lol

I am going to email these companies πŸ˜›

  2. I too am impressed you ran with your hair down, I can’t stand my hair flying around. Nice job on the 11 mile run and the 5k.

I have btb and Ryder’s sunglasses and love them both. The Btbs are really affordable.

glad Logan is feeling better, it is no fun when the little ones are sick!

    • lol….it was a first for me. It did get annoying but a 5k isn’t too long πŸ˜‰ lol plus, as stated above, you can’t ruin good “day after wedding hair” πŸ˜‰

and thanks Christy. It was tough seeing him like that.

    • it IS great. I’ve definitely had good runs and some where I’ve felt love and great! but this was entirely new for me….it was such a struggle and then….all of a sudden it was amazing and I felt like I could run forever.

and I love how skilled one can become at maneuvering clothes πŸ˜‰

  3. I don’t understand how you can run 11 miles. I can hardly walk after 5! I haven’t been running lately but am planning on starting it back up after I get over this cold. :)
Still have not been to a wedding. :( But I do know someone who is getting married so maybe that will be my first wedding! I LOVE the picture in their sens and pens jerseys! Too cute!
I cant believe that Colin ran with you! Was that his first race?

    • it’s all about slowly building up. It wasn’t that long ago that I was the same way. If you do ever want to try to run longer distances, I recommend a) slowing right down – drop your pace to below “easy” and b) doing 10 mins running, 1 min walking. I did that on my long runs before and I think it really helped me get through it. Now I can run the whole way! ….well aside from pee breaks in the woods ;P

and yes, they are hockey fans! lol If it were me I’d have a Habs jersey on πŸ˜›

and the terry fox run wasn’t really a race, but yes this is the first time in over 20 years that Colin has run both an organized race and a 5k :) it was awesome!!!!

hope you feel better :) xoxox

  4. What a fun weekend! So excited about your 11 miler. Love it when runner’s high strikes. Great job on your race. I raced a half yesterday and it had killer hills. Love all the pics!

  5. I rarely post on the weekend too. My Sunday night or Monday morning posts are always really long.
That’s how the cool kids roll πŸ˜‰
You looked super cute for the wedding!!

  6. Awesome weekend! I am laughing about the stop to pee, totally something I would do as well. I only say that because I know so many people that insist on going to pee before running cuz they want an empty bladder. I’m like if you have to pee then stop and pee, lol!!

Glad that Logan is feeling better. Oh and the whole run with husband stamina vs. stubborn. That is so us too!~

    • I definitely pee before leaving the house but I’m a mom! mom’s can’t hold it like they used to, that’s for sure…or at least I can’t πŸ˜‰
and that’s awesome that you and your hubs have the same running style :) I literally have no mental game, that’s why running on the treadmill has always been hard for me.

  7. No, no, and no hahaha I sound like a big douche with that response! Sadly though I had such a busy weekend that I did not get a chance to race…and the next wedding I am going to is not till next year, but it is my cousins and I am in the wedding party so that is cool!

Awesome weekend you had though, looks like you kept busy and even had some time to fit in Fast and Furious huh!

    • I love that you said “douche” I have been pulling out “douche bag” lately and I love it. We are clearly born close together πŸ˜‰ I am an 82 baby …so I think I’m older ;P

I love weddings ….I’m thinking about hosting my own second wedding just for fun πŸ˜›

and fast and the furious was just on tv last night ….I know you love it

  8. Amazing weekend and super busy for you guys!!!
Thank you again for a great time Sunday. Adrian was super happy to finished his first 5K and I’m very proud of him!!!
You look super pretty in wedding pics. All your pics are beautiful…
    Have a great week!!!
    Keep in touch!!!

P.S. I love the pic where you have heels…..

    • Thanks sooooo much for coming out Diana (and I just noticed I spelt your name wrong in the first paragraph oops) and Adrian was such a nice boy! I loved him. I love kids that like to talk and tell stories. I never know how to interact with shy kids ….I always think I’m scary to them πŸ˜‰

and of course we will keep in touch. Maybe we can even do a race together!

  9. Holy crap you make me laugh. That peeing in the forest picture is too funny!! I really like that dress, where did you get it for so cheap? Sorry that Logan wasn’t well. It’s sad when the little ones are so sick like that. I like your photo collages too! Very nice. The wedding looked like fun. Except that part with the bride in the Sens jersey. What a loser. LMAO Just kidding. Kind of. :oP

    • you are such a bum πŸ˜› but I like that about you :) I’m secretly one too. I just try to be nice on the blog…shhhhh

Oh and hold your breath – I bought the dress, the belt and the shoes at VALUE VILLAGE! SCORE!!!!!! I can’t believe what a match the belt and shoes were – it was the EXACT same shade of red.

  10. Looks like you’re all ready to run in those red high heels.

You had a busy weekend, and it looks like it took awhile to put this post together on top of that.

To answer your questions: I did get through the whole post. I ran a 16 miler on Saturday, and no weddings in my future. Sorry if you were wanting me to elaborate, but I’ll try to leave you wanting more. :-)

    Have a great week!

    • I don’t think I could actually run in heels BUT there is a race in Toronto that is a 1km race with heels on! I may do it now that I see what an awesome combo running gear and heels are πŸ˜‰ lol

Nice! I am so jealous of your 16 miler. I can’t WAIT till my next long run as it will finally be a PDR for me, as I’ve never run further than 11 miles :)

and enjoy your week too!!! thanks for visiting :)

  11. I love your collage about your run! Super awesome, congrats on a great run!
P.S. I need some running sunglasses too so if you get contacted throw my name out there! Thanks!

    • lol I totally will πŸ˜‰ I’m going to creep sunglass companies all night now ;P Thanks for the collage validation. I really appreciate it, as they do take me a while πŸ˜‰ they’d probably take even longer if I could spell right πŸ˜›

  12. Laughed so hard at the photo of you peeing out on your run … until I got to the picture of poor, sick Logan. He looks so pale in that picture. I’m glad he’s feeling better now.

PS – the peeing on the run photo would have been way better if you’d been wearing those heels. Yes, heels and running gear looks hot!

    • πŸ˜› YAY! I am happy you got a good laugh in. Colin thought I was disgusting for taking a picture WHILE peeing πŸ˜› I told him it was “blog gold” πŸ˜‰ ….of course I was right. lol

and I know! Logan was sooooo sick. His fever wouldn’t drop and he kept puking everywhere. He kept apologizing and I said “no it’s ok, there’s nothing to be sorry about” He was very grateful I stayed home with him :) I am so glad he’s better too πŸ˜€

  13. 1 – Yes.
2 – Yes. Just a shortie after a bike trainer ride. Just to see if I could.
3- Not getting married. Been there, are doing it. +10000 days and still going domesticated.

    Love the post!

  14. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I don’t know how you ran with your hair down! I can’t even go through a normal non-running portion of my day with my hair down. HA!

    I’m glad Logan is better!

    • I don’t know either. It was super sweaty. I just knew I had to keep it looking awesome for as long as possible…. sacrifices. lol

thanks Mandy, I’m glad Logan is better too :) I hope Avery is doing well. Can’t wait to blog creep tomorrow and see how big she is!

  15. Congrats on the awesome run! 10+ miles is impressive. Very cool you and Colin did a run together. Maybe you can turn him in to a runner yet :-).

I had a great long run this weekend too. Starting to feel pretty good about PRing my half marathon in late October.

  16. I was chased by a cold, and it got me! So I had to skip my run this weekend, and yesterday I spent the day in bed shivering from fever. Luckily today I’m well enough to read blogs.

I loved the collage of your runner’s high run. I have only ever experienced runner’s high after my run was over, and I was lying on the couch.

  19. That is one very busy weekend! I used to change clothes while driving on the interstate so I can’t judge you at all for changing in a parking lot. I’m still cracking up over the picture of you peeing in the woods. That’s hilarious!
