After yesterday mornings amazing run I am not ashamed to admit that I passed out during my meditation
lol I devised a plan after this mornings run and cycle and did yoga WHILE meditating. It was Genius!

Thank you for everyone’s comments reading my new workout schedule, as I found them so helpful! I’m glad lots of you have found you’ve adjusted to a morning workout schedule. Oh and a BIG thank you goes to Kristen, who’s comment felt like the biggest “a ha” moment ever….
* I have a treadmill!!! So regardless of what time Colin leaves I could still wake up before Logan to do my runs
obviously I prefer outside but I think it’s time to suck it up and embrace the fact that I can run inside.

Anyway as soon as the morning was over and Logan had arose from his nap we packed up the car and drove to visit Kathryn at the farm! Logan was soooooo excited to see horses!

…but more so, excited to see Kath and Charlie, their pointer.

Rex came with us and got along with the dogs just fine. He did not, however get along with the horses. It was the worst…..so I kept him on leash. Seriously he started trying to herd the horses and I’m surprised he didn’t get hoofed.

* If I get out of here you’re dead dog.
He has no herding experience (obviously) so he nips and barks and it was hell getting him to stop to say the least. Anyone know a place where you can take dogs to get that instinct worked?? I think Rex would love it!
At least Rex is obedient on a leash and we all got to enjoy ourselves…..

Next time Rex won’t be coming.

Questions:
1. do you meditate??
You should – CHANGING MY LIFE!
2. what was your workout today??
1.5 miles with Rex in the morning, a 4 mile cycle in doors followed by yoga
3. Horses?? YAY or NEIGH ?? <—– so funny
4. does you dog have any innate skills?? hunt/track/herd/rescue?
Rex is constantly in tracking/hunting/herding mode. He needs runs!
I love farms! My husband grew up on one, and we love taking the kids back to visit. Also, your boots are awesome. What kind are they?
THANKS lisa! They are Goundhog Shoes My mom shops at this shoes store that carries European brands and these were there – pure leather and only $45!!!! We shop the “sample room” and it’s amazing. I’ve had them for 3 years now and they’re getting kind of worn….I hope they’ll last! I love them
You are dressed so cute for the farm:) It’s only 6:46am so I haven’t worked out yet. After I get the kids off to school I plan to go for a run! Yay! I love the picture of the horse:)
lol thanks – I felt like an idiot that overdressed b/c it was soooo hot out but I did think I looked nice
lol
I like farms! I used to enjoy riding but then I got thrown and stepped on when I was 16 and I’ve never been on a horse since. Boo. Chickens freak me out too. Hmmmm maybe I don’t like farms so much…..LOL
It only takes a few weeks to create a habit so you shokld be used to getting up to run early in no time.
lol I loved this comment Sam – I can see why farm would freak you out. I love riding horses but find them scary when I’m not on their back
I’ve tried to meditate so many times and at best, I fall asleep!
You NEED to get on that mill in the wee hours. It is my savior. Even when the TV is broken, I run and stare at the wall. Mental training.
Big YAY for horses!
Thanks Marcia, I’m the same way with meditating but I’ve found guided meditation CD’s work best for me
and I am excited about my new morning workouts!!!!!
I love your outfit! You look adorable.
haha thanks Alex
Tals is the same with horses! She is a herding dog though, so she can’t handle it if they are all spread out and not doing what she wants
It’s even funnier with cows– she HATES cows! She groups them in a bundle, all back to back (we see them hiking, etc.) and then runs in circles around them while they moo at her. Kills me every time!
Sounds like Rex and I need to visit you and Tals
OMG. Look how freaking adorable you are in that cute little outfit and boots! I’d hate you, but you’re just too cute to hate.
BTW, you can ship me those boots anytime. Thank you.
Oh Laura
thanks so much. You’re too kind!
Love the photo with Logan and the pony! You already know I’m all about horses and farms.. only wish I had a dog who could tag along with me!
Ya I wish I had a horse, so I guess we’re even
I can’t see the pictures
Boo!
My dog has a skill…she is an amazing companion!
I don’t meditate, but I prolly should, would help with my anxiety issues..
Haven’t done my workout today, but I figure I may go for a run after work!
Aw nice skill Ed
Rex isn’t really a compainion. He’s more of an annoyance
just kidding. We love Rex!
Logan is TOO cute!!! I love horses! But once I was riding a very smart horse and you just had to subtly move the reigns and he would turn to the left, right, walk forward or back. Well, I accidentally put him into a reverse and almost went into a fence. Not one of my shinning moments.
LOL that mental picture had me laughing
I hate getting stuck in reverse
ok, finally back and I can see the pictures, I love the boots!
Thanks Lindy
glad you got to see them!
I’m digging the new look of the blog!
I tagged you on my blog for an inspiring blogger award because I love your blog.
Keep it up!
Thanks so much Missy
I am totally coming to visit. I know you’ll probably laugh but I actually try to stick to my “blog schedule” which includes visiting other blogs – otherwise it’d take up all my time
hahaha but I am making an exception for you! thanks girl xo
Ahh Rex. You’ve totally blotted your copy book.
I was going to try and lie and reply like I understand what this means – but I don’t
lol
He’s just made a mistake.
This is showing my age – years ago in schools kids had to practice their handwriting by writing with an ink nib (before ball point pens) in a copy book. Sometimes the ink would spill if you weren’t careful
and you’d create a blot.
OH! that’s kind of what I thought but ya….I am only 29 remember
lol
Oh Rex!
It looks like an amazing day! I think horses are really cute but I’ve only been on one once, and not for very long!
well they’re super fun! maybe that’s what we could do together – speaking of which how’s october looking for you??? we should plan a hangout now so we WILL see each other
Loved all the pics. Looks lie a great time at the farm!
Ha! I love that it took my comment for you to realize you could run on the treadmill you already own!
No wonder I like reading your blog — that sounds exactly like something I would do.
How is the early morning running going?? Have you stuck with it? I’m on week 3 and still loving it!
Cute farm pictures. Logan is so adorable and you look way too good be be on a farm. That is cuter than I look on date night!
Lucky is just like his grandfather who is a hunting lab. He thinks all small creatures are prey and his protective instinct with regards to me only increases with time. It sounds like Rex must have some Border Collie or Australian Shepherd in him with his herding instinct coming out like that. As far as I know there’s nothing really to do for that. The dogs with all that natural instinct make for excellent working dogs but unless you guys are hiding sheep in your yard (and you haven’t posted it on the blog) his herding aspirations will never come to fruition!
