Questions:
1. What have you achieved lately that you’re super proud of??? BRAG!
I’m super proud about the fact that I’m getting faster (finally) and that I’ve managed to switch over to morning workouts
2. Have you ever been or are you currently dealing with an injury?? How are you feeling during your road to recovery??
I have been injured and I am still having to ice, stretch and do my exercises (which I rarely do) in order to be able to run pain free…..but is any run ever pain free
Love kicking off my morning watching a vlog from you! Congrats on a great morning run. You are so speedy!
I am most proud of myself for losing almost 10 lbs over the summer. Our schedules have been crazy and we were gone almost an entire month but I managed to stay focused and drop the weight. I’d still love to lose another 10 and hopefully I will before the year is over. Regardless I know I look good and I’m surrounded my family and friends that remind me all the time so I am one lucky girl!
lol thanks Suz! and WOW 10lbs!!! that’s a lot
I remember how long it took me to lose my last 20…..the last pounds are the worst. I am so proud of you!!!! and again, I am always so impressed by your support system
Great job on your run!!
I feel like since I seriously started running in 2009 I have been injured so many times. In the beginning of 2010 I had a stress fracture and since then, running has not been the same. I am so afraid to push myself out of fear. After that I was back to normal until this year when I have had multiple things go wrong. My legs were a mess at the beginning of the year and now I have a neuroma in my foot which hurts like a mofo. My gma and mom have both had neuromas and apparently surgery is the best way to rid yourself of it. UGH! Moral of this story….FIND THE RIGHT SHOE! haha
I can completely relate to the fear of not wanting to push yourself too hard and get injured again! it’s scary. I don’t even know what a neuromas is! I’ll have to google it
ya shoes are annoying but I think I do best in minimalist ones or brooks
Vlogs are always good for a smile. Thanks for that this morning.
I’m thrilled that I finally got back to double days! (fingers crossed that I can make a habit of them again)
Love vlogs! I kicked ass in a squat thrust competetion!
My shoulder is super sore and my calves are tight! I’ve been foaming rolling, icing, and taking it easy!
I can say that I am very proud of my race on Sept 8th. NashVegas Half Ironman. I finished in 6:09:15. Last year, my HIM PR was 7:35:28, so I cut almost an hour and 20 something minutes off this distance! It rained very hard the entire bike, which made it tough, but everything went according to my plan. I swam the 1.2 miles in under 37 minutes, biked a little over 3 hours and ran the 13.1 in 2:20! Back in March I ran a half marathon in 2:07, so to finish a 13.1 in 13 minutes slower than my stand alone HM was freakin awesome! It is amazing what good training does for you huh?
Great job on your fast miles! Especially on the treadmill:)
Aw I’m glad that you’re feeling so great about your workouts Ali! You always inspire me with your motivation to exercise and stay fit
I’ve been struggling for the last couple of weeks to be honest, I’ve not been feeling very well this week – mix of pain, fatigue, headaches and time of the month! – so it’s been difficult to workout. I’m going to the gym tonight for the first time this week which is good and I did get a Jillian Michaels dvd in yesterday. I just hate being only able to do a little!
What am I proud of lately? I don’t really know! I’ll just have to go with the fact that I keep on plowing through in spite of everything I have to deal with!!
girl, i feel the same way about taking it easy. i’m trying to not psych myself out. i have my huge hip flexor pain… and it sucks! rest, ice, compress, repeat. it’s not working as fast as I’d like! last year i had bursitis.. at least its not that!
I love watching your vlogs. It’s like we’re having a conversation… uh, one I can’t contribute to by talking back so we’ll have to settle for this.
I injured my ankle last Oct/Nov and felt completely discouraged. I was three-ish months into running, had another 5K coming up and I didn’t want to miss it. It was hard to be forced to sit on the sidelines but I was lucky enough that I was able to run I think it was 2 or 3 weeks later with the help on an ankle brace. Added bonus was I didn’t miss the race.
I know a lot of people aren’t as fortunate so I know I was really lucky in that instance. Seems it’s so easy to end up with some kind of fracture or break instead of a sprain.
Growing a baby is an ongoing achievement I’m proud of but it’s also what is frustrating the crap out of me right now. I have not run since very early in my pregnancy (May) and, just when I get back into a workout routine (sadly it doesn’t include any real running yet), I’m now partially sidelined because my hip is not cooperating. I got a referral for Physical Therapy (Physio in Canadian terms lol) and am hoping it’ll help me get back into the swing of things. To say that I’m envious of pregnant runners, or any runner for that matter, is an understatement. I’ve actually been staying away from DM lately because I just end up building up more frustration with myself and my body. I try to remind myself that I won’t be pregnant forever, even though it feels like it sometimes lol, and I’ll be able to get back into running/working out in time, but I don’t have the patience.
What have I achieved lately? Hmm well that is a very good question. There has been a lot of accomplishments in the past couple of months. The first one that comes to mind is landing a highly competitive job, then starting said job and surviving an intensive peak season! It was not easy and I think that I have a few grey hairs because of it, but I survived. Second would be on top of the previously discussed Mel and I bought a house! We were lucky to get in when we did cause the market has increased by 20% (last I checked) and we would of never got the house we did with our budget. So I think those two points are worth bragging about.
Also worth mentioning is since I accomplished the new job and house, it has provided me with lots of material to start a new blog (http://everydaylivingpnw.wordpress.com/). Ali has been a champ at lending me some advice on how to get on my feet with it and a big thank you to her!
I have been lucky so far with not acquiring many injuries. Knock on wood!
Glad you are meeting some ambitious goals! Sorry I didn’t watch the vlog… just really not into them much (not just yours but all of them), but I like to drop in and see how you are doing and say hi!
Yes, recovering from an inury is a drag, but ya just gotta put in the time. Don’t overdo, and be patient!
Great job this morning, you look fabulous as a hot sweat mess!
I am recovering as you know..but you are super speedy!
