Birthday Fun – GO!

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE BDAY WISHES!!!!!!!!

I’m always such a bitch on my birthday. There’s really no other adjective that can describe the overall mood that comes over me on MY day ;)

I get such high expectations….and sometimes – they actually work out :D

I’m not kidding. I literally had one of the best birthday’s ever. I didn’t want to go out and party. I told Colin weeks prior that I really just wanted to chill with Jamie & Mike, eat great food and talk about running – mission accomplished!

Jamie & Ali

* normally I make sure my massive head it behind normal-sized heads…..so if you think my face grew, that’s why – oops ;)

We went to Syndicate in Niagara Falls and it had a fixed 3 course menu with some delicious meal options. At $20 a person I was extremely impressed!

The plating was fabulous and the food tasted incredible!

Here’s my meal:

my meal

Jamie had the same except she, and the other men opted for apple crisp instead of chocolate!!!! <—- what is wrong with them?!

Colin got the steak and Mike ate the lamb….

….like literally – to the bone!

poor lamb chop

* He also informed me that he had checked out my 5k race course and confirmed it was short and my current PR is a lie. What an thoughtful guy. Keeping me honest ;)

Locals – I give this restaurant 5 stars!!!!

After a bottle of wine and some good laughs we headed out to do the scenic winter lights drive down by the falls.

excited about lights

I felt like a little kid! There’s nothing I love more than lights at Christmas. There’s truly something magical about light arrangements – to be honest, this really inspired me to try harder on my own house ….next year ;)

….GO! <— inside joke – sorry guys, maybe this will encourage you to hangout with me more

dinosaurs

* don’t let this picture deceive you – EVERYONE loved this trip!

I’m pretty sure Colin and Mike wouldn’t shut up about how amazing the Niagara light displays were. There may have even been sound effects – that we created all on our own, for some moving displays ;)

so happy

After we parted ways Colin and I drove back home and bought tickets for The Hobbit 3D – it was preferred seating so we actually landed ourselves sweet seats and I was OVER THE MOON with excitement!!

3D glasses

The first night since August that we went to bed after 2am – We’re the coolest!!!

Goal Updates - I will post a small blurb every day below my post so you guys can keep me honest for my 21 day challenges :)

Current 21 Goal: Wake up at 5:30am

Day 1: Mission accomplished. Survivor (FYI loved the outcome) did NOT make that easy…..because of course I had to watch the entire show and the reunion afterwards…..argh! I also fit yoga and a 7 mile cycle in :)

  1. lord 530 this morning was killer. We are an hour ahead so your 12 am was my 1 am! Ugh but I was still crawling out of bed so that I could…do laundry. Clean up some. Get ready for work before kids got up. I used to get up and work out. for ages. but somehow its not working anymore.

    • Ya, I hear you – and I only have one kid (!!) I always wonder how you wonder moms do it. I am going to stick with this waking up for the 21 days….weekends included to see if it makes any difference, as my workouts are really lacking because I’m not waking up.

Doing laundry and cleaning before the kids wake up seems like a workout to me!! ;)

  2. I have not had a birthday for a looooooong time where I didn’t spend it at the ice rink. My birthday always falls on either a game or a practice! Practice this year!
I don’t remember when we went out for a nice dinner. Fast food sometimes on the way back from hockey trips. But that doesn’t count. ;)
    Colored on the tree always!
Lucky! You got to see the hobbit in 3D! I just went to the normal one. :P

    • LOL :) ….I love white lights. Don’t worry I’m not really that judgmental – I swear. I just LOVE white lights on huge house, because they remind me of the houses you see in xmas movies ;) hahaha

  3. Glad you had a great b’day! I watched Survivor too:) Not the reunion yet though. It’s on my DVR and I can’t wait to watch it! Wow, some of the jury comments were brutal!

  4. You had the right idea going for the chocolate! The lights look so pretty-that’s one of my favorite parts about Christmas.

My ideal birthday is just one where I feel special and remembered. As I’m sure you know it’s really hard having a birthday so close to Christmas.

  5. I’m glad that you had a great birthday! Did Logan stay at your moms while you were out? I can’t believe you got all that food for $20! Score! I love Christmas lights too. I’m all for white lights but Noah likes coloured so we have coloured outside and white inside. The last time that we went out for dinner was a couple of weeks ago when both boys ditched us and I remembered that we had $100 in Keg gift cards. The boys don’t know that we went without them so shhhhhh! BTW, I couldn’t stay up past the winner vote, did they have a fan award? If so who won it and when is the next installment? :)

    • Logan was at my moms – I was there yesterday, whenever I go I’m on the look out for blonde/black hair runners ;) lol

and it was $100,000 and Lisa won it ;) fan fav apparently – NOT mine. lol

the next season is “Survivor Fans vs Favs” and they’re playing against 10 past players….lol I don’t remember when it starts

  6. Mmm.. that chocolate creme brulee looks wonderful! My ideal birthday includes me not cooking anything and definitely something chocolate has to be involved :). Also a couple of hours spent shopping all by myself.

  7. Glad you had a great birthday – what was the hobbit like? Any good?
I actually went out to an (indian) restaurant on Tuesday with a runner from our local group. Had a *great* time and I am now dating a runner :-)
    Best christmas gift ever.
