Tommie Copper Calf Compression Socks [Review & Giveaway]

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED – Thank you so much for your participation.

So I think it’s safe to say that if you’ve been reading RwS for any length of time you know how I feel about Tommie CopperI love them!

I actually love and believe in their products so much that every time I see someone with a limp, a crutch, someone that complains about pain while running, tells me they can no longer run due to pain I tell them to go check out Tommie Copper (truth be told I don’t know why this company isn’t paying me yet ;P)

So when Kristin from TC contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing their first ever compression socks I was FLOORED! I have been waiting for these! Actually I’m pretty sure we’ve all be begging for them to make these!

First Impressions:

These socks looked so small when I first got them but they fit perfectly. They stretched over my huge runner’s calfs no problem! I noticed a difference in my legs right away.

baby socks

I was noticing that while I was training for my half that my feet would ache after running so long. My lower calves always bother me during runs, but I think that’s because my muscles are building up. Unfortunately I didn’t receive my socks until after my half training but the runs I have done in them were noticiably better.

Tc sock love

 * Rex loves them and wants a doggie pair 😉

Sometimes when I stop a run due to knee pain, hip pain, OA pain, foot pain, calf pain – whatever. Pick one! I get home and Colin says “Um…why didn’t you wear your Tommie Copper? or you have TC remember?” ….I’m like OH YA! I don’t have to feel like this. As always within minutes everything is better 😀

TC calf socks

What I loved:

  • These socks never took on any stink! Even after racing the Santa Shuffle in them UNDER my thermal tights, they just never held onto that sweat smell.
  • For directionally challenged people like me I loved that they labeled the Right and Left socks for you.

right/left labeling

  • Comfortable like the rest of their gear but the material is much different – like a “normal” compression sock. Not the silky material we’re used to.
  • Material is still excellent at wicking away moisture and keeping me comfortable while running and recovery.
  • Definitely noticed a difference with my foot pain and calf burning.
  • I loved that 27% of these socks are copper!!!! the magical ingredient in all their products.
  • I like that they’re warmer for my legs in this weather. I may not like that come summer though.
  • Felt great well running and stayed up the entire time! No need for adjustments. I also had no issues when I put a second pair of ankle running socks over them for a super cold run. Perfect.
  • When I wore them inside on my bike they were great too! I really like these socks.

What I didn’t love:

  • I didn’t really like wearing them to bed, I prefer using my calf sleeves or ankle sleeves. The reason being I get hot and sleep in nothing, so the material just made my legs hot.
  • I am not a huge fan of the “grandpa-esk” look to the socks 😉 lol I mean I know
Tommie Copper has to brand themselves accordingly, but maybe one day they can have an “athlete’s version” of their socks and make them a bit more flashy? We love bling! (sparkly copper sock? yes please!)

grandpa socks * It should be noted that I have never worn traditional compression socks and this was my first time ever receiving something like that, as the rest of TC’s products are made from a different feeling material.

Bottom Line:

  • These socks are the perfect solution for any calf tightness, pain in feet or ankles, shin splits, circulation issues (I am willing to bet these would be awesome for pregnant women) and for running and other sports. I think in the summer I’d try to wear them underneath my soccer socks! OR in place of them :) I think that they were just what I needed as I swore by their calf sleeves but needed some extra healing power in my sore feet – these did the trick!

  1. Until you said that copper is the “magical” ingredient in all of their stuff, I had been reading Tommie Copper as Tommie Cooper every time you’ve mentioned their products…and that’s a lot. I feel really smart now. And because of that, I need some copper (not cooper) socks.

  2. I would love to try these socks! I’ve been curious about compression but haven’t taken the plunge yet. I love that these are made with copper and I’m checking out their website now… So tempted to try the knee sleeve! I have a minor but annoying pain there that comes and goes. My drug store knee sleeve is OK but COPPER?! Sign me up.

  3. Oh oops!! Sorry Ali–I missed the directions :(

I want the compression socks BECAUSE I NEED THEM! I have TC calf sleeves and ankle sleeves and they saved my achilles and calves last year and got me back to running. But I’ve been wanting to get compression socks because I also have posterior tibialis tendinitis, that creates pain at the bottom of my foot socks would compress everything all at once 😀

  4. I’d like a pair to see the difference between these and other compression socks. I currently only have 1 pair of Pro compression (I think) which help to run in – not sure how much of that is psychological though 😉 Would be interesting to see how the copper goes over prolonged washing. Although if they don’t retain the stink 😉

  5. Yay for Tommie Copper giveaway!
I NEED these socks because I’m always complaining about pain in my feet, calves, thighs, hips, anything! (Seriously, ask anyone who knows me, I’m a whiner :)) Plus, I just have this weird obsession with compression stuff but I don’t own any true compression socks!

  6. I would love to try them to help with my calf running pain. I have just started investigating ways to help and landed on compression sleeves. I think they would help immensely with the intense training schedule I’m following right now! :)

  7. Oooh awesome giveaway! And thank you for the honest review, there’s nothing I dislike more than when people gush over every item they review. Your honest opinion was refreshing, and it makes me trust what you say about it more!

I want to win as am something of a compression wear addict. I especially love compression socks, I will be needing LOTS of them for marathon and ultra training this year!!

  8. Lets c I woke up from back surgery with heel pain. It has never gone away. I even bought those expensive things to put in shoes made to ur feet. And still no relief. I charged Tommie’s and maxed out on dads card. Gave my mom the gloves cause she would never use her money 4 her self. I could really use the socks and gloves. Plz plz plz

  9. I LOVE compression gear!!! I wear it during and after all my runs! I’ve never tried Tommy Copper, but have heard good things and would love to win a pair of my own!

  10. I am seriously in need of compression socks… this dang swelling in my left leg is not clearing up and when I wear my calf sleeve, it pushes down into my foot – then I can’t get my shoe on! Yikes. Please Santa Tommie Copper, send some compression socks my way! :)

  11. Ooh!! I would LOVE a pair of TC socks!! I am training for my second half marathon and would really love for my feet to not be sore after mile 10. It really makes the last three that much harder…

  12. Your Tweet button didn’t work for me, so I tweeted my own message, and I Pinned the post to my Giveaway Board… off to find your FB post to share too.

    I really want these socks!

  13. I have been dying..DYYINGGG to get my hands (err feet?) on a pair of compression socks!! I think I would benefit from them SO much. My feet ache at times and so do my knees, not sure if they help the knees..but I just want help with overall flow!! I don’t even care about the grandpa coloring, I would rock them all the time!!

  15. Why do I want to win a pair of socks? Because I have running CHAOS that I’m hoping a little Tommie can help. Cheers for a happy 3-0!!

  16. I love the TC knee sleeves they sent me to review. They really helped with knee injuries I had early in the year. I like wearing compression socks after a long run or on long flights and would like to try theses out.

  17. I’d like to win these for a gift for my dad. He’s an active runner at 73 and deals with a lot of foot issues. These would be great for him to try because it’s important for him to keep doing it. Thanks for offering them!

  18. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is a connective tissue disorder. It’s easy for our joints to dislocate, and/or our muscles to strain, spasm and acquire trigger points. I do not own any of the TC socks, but I do have the TC gloves, and love them! The socks would be awesome, and would help my feet quite a bit–especially that big toe that seems to love to sublux!

    Thanks for the contest!

  20. I would love to win a pair of these for my dad. He has kidney cancer, and one of the side effects from his medication is pain in his legs. He was on steroids, which helped a lot with the pain, but he is being weaned off of it, and the pain is coming back. I would love to see if these help him at all, and maybe order some knee sleeves and other products from Tommie Copper if they do.

  21. I would like to win a pair of TC so l can do lung runs without easily fatiguing my legs and recover faster. It will be the perfect addition to my marathon training!
