So I’ve become bitter. It’s official. I have no desire to run, even though deep down I want to. If that makes sense? I have such a hard time when my body holds me back. I currently have an ice pack on my hip flexor because yesterday’s stretching ruined it.
ATB is a week and a half away and I’m not even sure I can race a 5k let alone 15……but, just like last year – I’ll just do it. The hard part about running crappy is telling your mind “HEY! you’re still running! this is a good thing” and telling your ego to “F*** OFF!” It never listens. At least mine doesn’t.
However, it’s nothing a poutine can’t make me forget….
I have been resting and icing and rolling and lightly running….yes, yes, I know I need strength in there too. I’m on it!
I found this quote in an article about causes of IT band syndrome. <— something else that ONLY bothers me after a mile or 2 of running.
“Researchers at Stanford found that weak hip muscles can be one of the biggest reasons people get IT band syndrome. Weak muscles in the hip tend to cause your running form to break down, which puts a lot of stress on the tissues in the knee.”
Since I’ve never suffered from IT band anything this is a red flag to me. For starters I just found out that when you have a hip flexor strain RUNNING ON IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello? why wasn’t I told this?? I’ve been running on it for over a year!!!! Wasn’t this my injury last year? and didn’t they tell me I could run?
Hence forth I’m only going to trust online articles and skip going to the “professionals” all of you expert friends of mine provide me with much better knowledge

and quite honestly, that could be my header right now. I’ve been a sad non-running lazy bones. How can you get excited about something that hurts when you do it???

No, that isn’t mustard and ketchup (I wish) it’s a yellow and red CRAYON!!!! that went through the wash and dryer with all Logan’s bedding and clothes!!!
I made this hot soaking concoction last night and ran the clothes through once more. It seemed to get it out of most colours but not the whites. I’ll do them separately and toss some bleach in.
But first, my morning will be spent cleaning the crayon out of my new dryer…..
no amount of photos could do this disaster justice. The dryer has red wax all over it and the clothes made me cry.
I’m so thankful it wasn’t my clothes……because clothing is really important to a girl you know

weird question, I know. But reading all your blogs it seems like for most of you injuries and crap just doesn’t phase you. Are you all super heros?? lol because for me, I just can’t get excited about a run when I’m hurting
